They ask you to be 1hr+ early, then lock you in the 'compound' with a bunch of cars and offer ONE vending machine with water that only takes coins! It's a heat wave and people are so dehydrated. Hellooo- offer more options for people stuck in this gated area for an hour and a half

My group of eight adults traveled in two vehicles, arrived early, had time to park in line & use the nearby free restrooms, then US Customs checked our US passports. We departed Victoria BC & arrived at Port Angeles, Washington, with no problems. However, compared to the newer & more spacious BC Ferry we had rode earlier from Vancouver to Nanaimo (Vancouver Island), I would note two things: (1) the vehicle lanes aboard the ferry are very close together, narrow & cramped - there's a risk of banging someone's car door when you exit/enter your car (and if you're obese, good luck with that); and (2) this Black Ball Ferry is obviously older (I saw paint over obvious chipped older paint) & the boat is not as clean, just passable. But still, the ferry delivered us safely and at a reasonable price. It's like a public bus chugging across the water. But yeah, I'd ride them again.

Very poor accessibility on car deck. Car was directed to park too close to wall and other side. Husband could not get out. Beware if you have any physical mobility issues at all. I am shocked at how poor this situation is in 2023. Won't be using again.

We didn't have a reservation, we were told to park on lane one, we are the seventh on standby! Do you want to wait?" Yes!Custom check was smooth with Officer Cruz!Made the 10:30 am ferry back to Port Angeles!"

Love that company!Travelled 2 times in 3 years and to be honest they haven’t change with covid.Trying to make sure all passengers are happy, helping on board and also quick to process all passenger that crosses the board.Really a too good and views are amazing from there as you are departing from Victoria’s harbor.

Staff are awful, I have no idea how the deck crew is still employed. Rudely and aggressively yelling at people trying to reverse their cars off the ferry is not professional. Would never happen on a BC ferry.

The ferry itself was great. However, upon arrival to Victoria, we were greeted by one of the most aggressive and hostile customs agents we have ever met anywhere in the world. If you are unlucky enough to cross paths with Audy, then you're in for a grueling ordeal. It's really unfortunate because every Canadian we've encountered has been friendly, but Audy seems to have a lot of hate in his heart.

The best way to get to Victoria for us from Port Angeles is to use Black ball ferry line. For $37 walk on round trip and 1.5 hrs later and we are here. Just don’t forget to fill out the form and you should be all set.

Everyone here is so kind and helpful! We were desperately trying to get first come first serve on the early ferry back to Port Angeles and the multiple people we spoke with gave us all the insight on how to get in line. We made it on and are so grateful for the wonderful team at Black Ball Ferry line!
