Horrible Chinese food! The Lo Mein was legitimately just soggy Mr. Noodles. The general tao chicken was disgusting and practically soupy sauce and no taste. The Beef and Broccoli had no flavour and was just covered in sauce and completely cold. Stay away from this place, trust me.

I'll be as detailed and as objective as possible. We occasionally do takeouts at South China. Especially when there's no time or desire to cook. It seems, their approach is simple - quick and affordable Chinese food.Yes, the food might be a bit bland, but it's not horrible as a lot of reviews state. Could be a little burned here and there, but still pretty tasty. If you're looking for fine chinese dining, in my opinion, this would not be it.This is fast, simple and you get what you pay for.

Avoid this place at all cost! We recently moved into the area and were craving some good Toronto Chinese food and googled our way here. We looked through their menu and chose what we wanted. We ordered Vegetable Mushroom Chow Mein, Orange Chicken, Honey Garlic Shrimp, Beef Lo Mein and Vegetable Fried Rice. We were THOROUGHLY disappointed! Upon opening the containers, everything looked bland. The taste also matched the way it looked. DO NOT ORDER THE CHOW MEIN. Apparently, this restaurant has changed the definition of what chow mein is, from having noodles in the typical dish to HAVING ABSOLUTELY NO NOODLES AT ALL and only bean sprouts. Their Beef Lo Mein came with Mr. Noodles........... yes, that 47 cent little baggie you can pick up from the grocery store. It was not the kind of noodles you would find in the great spots in China Town. The Fried rice looked bland, too much onions, not enough soy sauce. The only saving grace would be that the Orange chicken which had real orange slices instead of the orange glaze and the sauce did seem more authentic..... but, regardless, upon opening, it did not look appetizing at all. Also, when I called to complain about the chow mein, the man said that the lo-mein is the only thing that has noodles and that the menu specifies no noodles in the chow mein. After I hung up, I looked over their website menu again AND NO WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT IT ONLY HAS BEAN SPROUTS. He didn't try to save a customer from forever never coming back, but he tried to JUSTIFY the crazy. Again, look it up, chow mein DOES have noodles in it... the real difference between Chow mein and Lo mein is how it is cooked. uuuuuuuuuugh!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food is a scam, it's not restaurant food at all - just some instant noodles, overcooked broccoli and 40% onion. There were just 3 tiny pieces of meat, size of a big pea each. I attach the photo.I was told the delivery will be within an hour - it took them an hour and a half. Nobody ever said sorry. Total waste of time and money. Unbelievable.

This is an old school chinese restaurant, 69 year !! Second generation family own and run. If you are not familiar with old school chinese restaurant you may be surprised on how their low Mein is made of bean sprouts as you may see one of the Google reviewers laughs at and rated with 2 stars. In the early years when Chinese restaurant opens where commericial noodle supplies are virtually non-existent many restaurants throughout North America end up using bean sprouts as a substitute. The it was instant noodles. It is my understanding in Toronto the first Chinese commericial noodle shop start in the late 70s. This restaurant ha been continuously running for 69 years!!!Anyway, I had deep fry chicken wings and Shanghai Noodles. There are things I won order on the menu but there are things I will order again and again. And I will always be back.Got to support local , as both a local resident , Chinese and a trained chef / butcher myself.

We ordered from South China every weekend for several months. We never found the food particularly tasty, but the location was convenient. The past five weeks, the service and food quality began to deteriorate dramatically. Every week there was an item missing from our order and the driver was forced to return with a replacement. Then several weeks ago, our food containers began showing up half empty. The order taker (Steve) was very polite and tried to help, but after five weeks of inaccurate orders and half empty containers, I finally asked to speak to the owner to discuss my concerns (we were missing a container of Vegetable Fried Rice on our final order). The owner was extremely rude and dismissive. He accused me of stealing the food, and told me that even though he didn't believe that the container was missing, he would replace it. He then hung up on me while I was still speaking to him. When the driver arrived, he also accused me of stealing the food. When I tried to discuss the issue with him, he turned his back on me and walked away (this after I gave him a $6 tip on a $30 bill). Needless to say, we threw out the replacement order of rice because we suspected it had been contaminated due to our complaint. After this last incident, we will never order from South China again. The customer service is atrocious, the owner is extremely rude, the food is bland, and the portion sizes are ridiculously small for what you pay (particularly when the containers arrive half empty!). Whenever we had a complaint about missing food items, there was always an excuse: 1) We have a new cook. 2) Our cook has a bad eye. 3) The driver was too busy to double check your order, etc. The order taker (Steve) told us that this is a very small restaurant and only four people work there (the order taker, the cook, the owner, and the driver). If you do decide to purchase food from South China, do the following: 1) Always calculate the price of your order manually (they will give you the cost, but always double check your order / $$$ for accuracy) -- they tried to over charge us on three separate occasions. 2) Always unpack your order in front of the driver when it arrives. If you are missing any food, you need to let the driver know immediately (don't let him walk away). Otherwise, if you call to complain, the owner will accuse you of stealing the food. SUMMARY: There are many other Chinese food restaurants in Toronto with higher quality food and superior customer service. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!

It is a cheap restaurant with generous portions. It is not a fine dine experience but rather a budget option. Definitely it a great considering the price and the size. I actually enjoyed the flavour of what I ordered and the stuff was friendly. I amComing back

THIS IS NOT AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD! Food was horrendous. Not enjoyable at all. Lo Mein Noodles tasted like Mr.Noodles. really overcooked. Ended up being moosh. All the meat was soggy and nasty. This is the worst part, but the pad thai was made with KETCHUP! Who the hell uses ketchup, or tomato paste, in pad thai? And there was tomato in it. This was so bad. Everyone was disgusted. We called the restaurant. Person said that they use a tomato paste for pad thai, and for the noodles they actually used packaged ramen noodles. This is so bad. Paid well over 100 dollars for food that maybe would cost 20 dollars to make at home. So disappointed. Dont know how this is an actual established restaurant. Doesnt make sense to me. So bad.

We had their Moo shu pork, beef with broccoli and sausage tonight. Everything tasted delicious! We also loved how pleasant it was to pick up the order from the restaurant!
