Hachi Mochi Donuts

Great little spot, really liked the donuts.

You get half a dozen for $20 or $3.68 each. Flavours were chocolate skor, cookies n cream, pistachio, matcha, strawberry pocky, and HK milk tea. We got one of each. The texture of each donut was soft, chewy, crispy on the outside, and creamy. The flavoring of each donut however was subtle and lacking. The most flavorful one was the matcha, while the others only had hints of flavour. Thus I would rank each flavour from best to worst: 1) matcha, 2) chocolate skor, 3) strawberry pocky, 4) pistachio, 5) HK milk tea, and 6) cookies n cream. Overall, great texture and flavour from the actual donut but not from the flavouring; not great value for the price.

I’ve had mochi donuts from a different place in the past, but decided to try Hachi Mochi because their flavour list interested me. Perhaps I came on a bad day and received a bad batch. I ordered: 2 strawberry pocky, 2 milk chocolate with skors, 1HK milk tea, and 1 blueberry. Unfortunately, I think there was miscommunication and I got another milk tea instead of blueberry. In addition, they forgot to put the pocky on top of the strawberry pocky donuts. The donuts were not as bouncy as I was used to and tasted bland. Seeing what I saw on social media versus the service and product I received, I was very disappointed. From the picture I had taken of the donuts, it looks quite sad. My expectation were high from all the posts and pictures I saw. I expected the same consistency after paying $20 for 6 donuts.

Finally got to try the mocha donuts and they do not disappoint. The donut was chewy and soft. My favorite is the matcha donut and the rest of my family enjoyed the blueberry pie.
