On their website it is stated that there is a flat fee" to look at and estimate a repair cost for equipment. I called to ask what the cost of the fee is

Stay away from Camtex!!! I spent $78, waited 12 days, nothing fixed, ended with grief. I went to Camtex to have my light meter repaired, and their technician immediately speculated certain problems. Camtex charged me $78 for further diagnostic and estimate. One day later, they informed us that the repair fee will be a minimum $120.00, plus $30.00 shop" fee

I had looked for a long time where I could repair my most important lens, a Canon 50mm f1.0. I had tried two places, one in Ontario and one in Vancouver that I found were not satisfactory to repair this lens in a way that I felt comfortable. Allan, who works at the front desk of Camtex, was very helpful and very professional. He helped me understand that Camtex had the skill to fix this lens. I trusted Allan and Camtex to do the repair. Initially the lens had to be taken apart to remove a foreign substance from the inside of the lens that caused fogging in the lens. The coasting made backlight shots in low light conditions have a fogging that detracted from the picture. This lens is one of the best lenses in the world in very low light. I knew I had to fix the lens. When Camdex took the lens apart they recommended that I also service the USM motor. I agreed to this and I am happy that this was done since this is a vintage lens and at some point the usm motor will need servicing. I prefer to not have to take the lens apart again to service the usm motor. In the end I am very happy with the work they did servicing my lens. It is a lens that is essentially as good as new. I very much appreciated what Camtex did and the great customer service I received from Allan.

Took six months to return my expensive film point-and-shoot back in significantly worse condition. They quoted me a huge sum for work which they suspiciously halved after I shared my intention to take the camera elsewhere. They ordered the wrong part once and delayed repairs by months. Then they took a camera apart and couldn’t put it back together (like, really?) What I have now is worth less than what I gave the shop. The shop never returned the $40 I paid initially for inspection and offered nothing for the damages. The shop promised to ship me back parts they lost while assembling my camera unsuccessfully and never did.

Ive got a marksman 7x35 binoculars that had a dislodged prism and lens. This they took care of within a week or so plus they greased the focusing ring without asking and provided a kneck strap without asking, at a minimal cost of $16.60. Mine had fallen apart after 52 years. As the current expression goes, we're good"!"

Service was beyond good. Alan is not just great fixing cameras but also a great mentor. I brought in an old and dirty camera I found in my mom’s closet and he made it come back to life like brand new. Plus he took the time to explain how all the buttons, shutter, aperture, etc work. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a place where they’ll care about your devices and respect them.

I recently took my old binoculars in for repair. I had inherited them and was not sure if it was worth having them overhauled. Camtex did a great job and I learned that my binoculars were built with high quality materials and therefore it was worth investing in the repairs. Great service and knowledgeable staff.

It was so nice to deal with Alan.Did really good Job on my 5000 Nikon Camera. Really helped me out on rush basis in two days. Always will recommend Alan for your camera repairs. I was going to buy new one but saved me a lot after reapiring from Alan.

Great service. I came in with lens impact damage and a dent on the lens. This place fixed it up within less than a week with a reasonable price.
