Jackson Therapeutic Senior Recreation Services

Our family hired a JTR recreational therapist to develop a programme with my mother who is in need of support to remain engaged in the community. We were led to expect that the RT would suggest and accompany my mother to activities based on their discussions and possibly input from other family members. Unfortunately, not a single outing took place. Each meeting was conducted on the grounds of my mother's building and she became increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress. In her words, she did not need a babysitter. The final straw for us was when I requested the cancellation (by email) of one meeting because my father was being hospitalized and as I arrived to take him to the hospital, I saw that the RT had arrived and was with my mother. The incident was extremely distressing and somewhat confusing for my mother. I was unable to intervene because of the time constraints related to helping my father. I communicated this incident by email to the RT's manager (JTR does not permit direct communication between RT's and clients.). After waiting several days for an explanation and receiving none, I terminated the relationship with JTR.To sum up JTR's client service leaves a great deal to be desired.
