We were recommended to Allied by several other trades for a restoration as we were looking for a specific product. Not only did they have it in stock but they were able to deliver the following day. Few months later we went back to Allied to finish our basement, the service and the selection was unbelievable. Joe was amazing at guiding us through different options and styles and we loved the no rush vibe. He even opened up for us after hours as my wife works late in to the day. The store refused to accept a return of two unopened boxes of good quality engineered flooring. The flooring was natural oak color so apparently no issues on that score. It was a substantial order from a $$ point of view. First time in my experience that a flooring company has refused a return of unopened boxes. I would recommend that any buyer take very precise measurements before ordering from these people.

Allied shipped us the wrong product that didn't match the samples! That's not what we ordered. We don't want it, but Allied refuses to take it back and to give us a refund. Every time we contact them, the boss is either out of town or otherwise unavailable.

My husband and I are in the middle of building a custom home. When we first met Joe, we explained our requirements for the hardwood we are looking for. We’re building a modern house and we wanted maple floors with minimal variation and a minimalist look. He showed us a bunch of samples and we told him what we liked and what we’re looking for. He gave us a recommendation and we asked for a box to ensure we like what we’re buying. My husband went to the store and picked up 4 pieces from the box and the boards looked fantastic. We paid a little over $20,000 for everything. On the day before installation, when the product arrived, we saw the hardwood and it looked nothing like the sample and what we saw in the showroom. Our builder even agreed that it is not what we paid for. The invoice states that it’s select grade but in reality, we received character grade, which is a completely different and inferior product. The hardwood is dark with a lot of variation and did not match the samples we have. Select grade is uniform and this is what we paid for and what we wanted.In fact, we brought the sample hardwood to our staircase manufacture and had everything match. In the photos, you can see that the hardwood colour is completely different. We called Joe immediately and after patiently and politely waiting for 2 weeks, Allied has refused to give a refund and return or offer any type of viable solution. They took our money and sold us a faulty product and are unwilling to cooperate. There is no way we can install this hardwood in our forever home, as it is not the product we were initially shown and we have been misled. We are now stuck with a ton of useless wood and out $20k. We have to re-order elsewhere because this hardwood does not match the aesthetic and design of our forever home. To be out this much money is devastating. We have even offered to pay for shipping, handling and opened boxes. But Allied is refusing to cooperate and ignoring our calls. To pay this much for a wrong product is criminal!!! As a result of their faulty product, we are delayed with construction. We were also quoted $3,000 to re-do the nosing for our stairs. We have contacted Consumer Protection Ontario and will be escalating this case to small claims court.For anyone thinking of buying from Allied Flooring, I would say be very wary. There are many other reputable flooring companies in Ottawa with better customer service. Buyers beware!!!
