Ambassador Hotel & Conference Centre

Got two different answers from two different employees. Was told no credit card needed, just the amt for down payment. Drove 13 hours to rudely be told they'll take the extra payment but credit card needed still, which makes 0 sense. Decided to go elsewhere. - REVIEW EDITED SINCE I CANT REPLY - My name is not on record because your staff couldn't put me in the system. Maybe when you guys do the complete renovation of the entire hotel, maybe you can get a complete new staff or else nobody will go.

The best place in town! They helped out so much during my Cancer treatment. The staff was beyond helpful and made my stay one thing I didn't have to worry about! They looked after all my needs and went beyond what was required. I highly recommend this place. Rooms nice and spacious, very clean and enjoyable! Love love the heat lamp in the bathroom giving a nice warm atmosphere after your shower! Can't say enough regarding these past 3 weeks of being here! They made a depressing time a little better!!! Thank you Ambassador Staff, I will miss you all!

I wish I'd read the reviews before booking. I'll make this short and to the point. The restaurant and pool were closed. The beds were really old and parts of the bedframe were sticking out so you had to be careful when you got out of bed or your hot the steel part with your foot. The walls are super thin and it was noisy. To top things off, we get back to our room in time to watch the hockey game and guess what? The TV doesn't work. We called to have someone come up and the maintenance guy couldn't get it to work either. Ugh.... I would NOT recommend this hotel. I certainly won't be back!

We stayed here for two nights. Staff was extremely lovely and allowed us to check in an hour early as we had a senior citizen with us who needed a rest before the evenings activities. They are presently renovating the other wing of the hotel, so these rooms were an excellent deal! It’s clean and some of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in. It takes 10 minutes to get downtown Kingston by car, so nicely located. They were generous with coffee machine re- stock. The management made sure to let us know going in that the pool and restaurant were unavailable, which really didn’t affect us and gave us a discounted price for a great room. It’s not a luxury hotel but it’s more than decent.The view across the street nothing to write home about, so don’t choose this place if you want scenic surroundings. But if you’re looking for big comfy rooms at a great price this is the place for you!

For the price I paid, wow this was a great hotel!!!! Beds were comfortable and it was a simple yet deluxe room, with everything you need for a business trip. I went during their massive renovation so they offered nothing except for a room, but I read about their amenities pre-construction. Parking was easy to find, but there were some huge holes in the parking lot. Staff was very friendly and helped me check in smoothly. Great location, great room, this is a perfect option for me to consider next time I come back to Kingston!

My husband and I stayed here years ago and it was a nice experience. This time, we stayed here recently and it was horrible! We arrived and were given room 157 in the main building. I asked for a higher floor but the front desk staff was rude and would not accommodate. We walked into the room and wished we hadn’t prepaid! The room was worse than our daughter’s university dorm room. It was musty and smelled of cigarette smoke. It was dated, had holes in the bathroom and the tub was blackened and water leaking from it all over the floor. The bathroom barely fit one person in it! The sink wouldn’t drain so a full sink of water occurred from just brushing your teeth. The bed was uncomfortable, sheets stained and towels were cheap and overused. Honestly, we were thoroughly disappointed and wish we had just kept driving through the night instead of wasting our hard earned money. I proceeded to tell the front desk staff upon check out how horrible it was but they don’t care! Honestly, the place should be shut down! Can’t believe they advertise as a resort hotel. A joke!

The people here have been fantastic! The maintenance staff was so helpful with getting our luggage up to our room. They were also respectful of all the COVID rules by cleaning thoroughly and even asking is we were comfortable sharing the elevator with them.The front desk was very helpful and friendly and were able to answer any questions we had.I highly recommend staying here.

Rooms are very clean, large beds, clean linens, and a shower that works. They have large screen TVs, not just 32 flat screens but proper 50" screens.The hotel may have been recently updated as everything in the room looked newish - carpets

The stay at this hotel was honestly horrible. We had booked the largest suite for a wedding party to get ready in. A week before our wedding they called us to say the room was no longer available and that they were switching our rooms. Did they not know this sooner - it’s a bit ridiculous to find out the week before. We were not offered any accommodation to make up for this. At that time, I also asked for a late check out (I believe I spoke with James?) who was unbelievably rude and told us it would likely not be accommodated. I asked if could explain the situation (this it was for a wedding and we had already been changed rooms) and he said there was no sense explaining to him, he wasn’t willing to help. All the amenities were closed, including the pool restaurant, etc. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website before booking - had we known this, we would not have booked. Not only this, the room was outdated and unclean and extremely dark and grungy. It was completely impossible to get any photos while getting ready when there were only two beside lamps and no other lights in the room. My husband asked for a late check out the night we checked in, the lady at the front desk told him he would have to call in the morning to request as she was not overly willing to help either. Luckily she wrote a note for the staff in the morning and it was finally accommodated. The only good thing about this hotel was that I spoke with Quincy (?) a few times on the phone. He was very polite and provided great customer service. This hotel used to be a great place and I was overwhelmed with how run down and awful the service was. Overall, we would not stay here again.
