Melanie Chin Canine Services

For the past 4 months, Melanie has been working one on one training with our now 6-month-old Doberman Anubis. Since day one she has been so patient and very informative during our training sessions. We have worked in my backyard, on my street, at PetSmart, at a local cafe etc Melanie has provided so many different experiences in our sessions and made sure that we are confident and comfortable when we are out on our own. Melanie’s approach to positive reinforcement and the fact that I don't have to use a prong collar or a choke chain to handle my dog is mindblowing. Melanie has a way of connecting with not only her clients but also her four-legged furry friends as well. I highly recommend Melanie to anyone looking for a positive, fun and rewarding experience!

Mel is awesome. She clearly knows her stuff and she just sees a million little things I never even thought about. She’s very generous, clear and easy to follow in her instructions and explanations. I really appreciate it too to be directed as to what and how I need to do it, so that I get empowered to handle problems or improve training myself. She has lots of ideas and is super resourceful tackling problems with whatever you have at hand. Shes also just a great personality and a fun person to learn from. Highly recommend her for basic training as well as tackling a reactivity problem.

We could tell right away Melanie had magic powers ! She could recognize exactly what our dog needed to build her confidence and she shared so much knowledge with us so we could understand what our dog was communicating. Over months she gave us many tools to use to keep building trust and we could easily see the progress our dog was making. It took a lot of anxiety off of us too ! Not only is Melanie my dogs favorite human and she loves her visits , but now she is comfortable with other people, Melanie gave her this gift. Our dog can now do things we feared she'd NEVER do because she was so reactive and ultra fearful of everything. Now she can put on her harness, take car rides, shop at the pet store, pass people on walks, let us have visitors at home, trust us in new situations. Maybe that sounds small but when you live with a dog that feels easily overwhelmed and terrified it's HUGE !! The best thing is now every new thing she tries she relaxes and it's is easier the next time. We could not recommend Melanie more !

Where do i even start!! Melanie is amazing, she definitely has a special way in helping out every time I come across an issue.I started with her when my girl was only 10 weeks old. Melaine helped me learn how to handle and train my now 95lbs and still growing baby. Thank you for all your help.

Melanie has been incredible with our 9 month old Shepherd/Husky/Malamute cross. One of the biggest variables in choosing Melanie as our trainer was her methods. Nothing is ever forced during training—it's all about understanding our dog and learning to communicate with him. I'm so grateful we found Melanie. She's not only teaching our Max how to be a great dog, but is also teaching us how to be great dog owners! I recommend her to anyone seeking training for their furry best friends.

Melanie is an amazing dog whisperer. She truly has an intuitive connection with animals. I have learned so much from her, and I’m so thankful for the time and instruction she has shared. She teaches the dog (and the owner:) with positive reinforcement and kindness!

It has been a wonderful experience working with Melanie for the last few months. She has taught my dogs really good behaviours and have taught me how to positively reinforce these behaviours and turn them into habits overtime. I believe that my dogs have a better quality of life due to the lessons we've learned from Melanie, and for that we are very grateful. Melanie is amazing at what she does. Hank was adopted a week ago and I needed the help to get started and form the best bond possible. She has amazing ideas to keep Hank entertained through out the day and helped us work on his recall. Within one day, Hank has come when called, even when he wanted to go play with some other dog friends! I recommend her for any of your training needs as she is very knowledgeable and wants the best for all dogs and owners.

We called upon Mel when our two year old Daniff started to show some signs of resource guarding (which I was referring to as ‘food agression’). With four young children in the house, I was not going to take it lightly. Right from the first time we met, Mel helped me understand WHY Gus was reacting the way he was and helped me to understand the communication in his reactions. She then was able to show us how to modify his need to communicate to us this way! We are thrilled to share that since having Mel guide us, we have not had any more instances of resource guarding. We are continuing to work on these skills as well as having Mel guide us in perfecting his basic obedience and manners. Overall, we are beyond thrilled with the progress we have already seen and look forward to learning more of Mel’s tricks and secrets!

Melanie has changed our lives. From the moment she started to work with us and our dog, things have been so much better. She not only taught us to understand how our dog thinks, she also brought us even closer to him. Our dog loves her and waits for her arrival. She is kind, smart and understands without judgement.
