My wedding dress was altered here. They took the entire back out and changed some material that was rough and uncomfortable. It fit like a glove and was very comfortable. The ladies were always very helpful and friendly. I will be going here for all of my alterations in the future. Thanks for the stunning job Melanie and team!

I brought my wedding dress to Melanie’s Dressmaking & Alterations in a panic. I had purchased my dress in Ottawa and long story short they couldn’t do my alterations as promised on the weekend I was going up. I brought my dress in and they did an AMAZING job with my dress. They took their time and fixed everything and even added stuff that they believe would make the dress fit perfect.I have nothing but positive things to say about Melanie’s Dressmaking & Alterations. I will 100% recommend to my family/ friends. Stress free VERY reasonable price.Job Well Done!!!

I took a formal gown in for shortening. There is a lining with a lace overlay. It took 6 wks, & was only finished after I called asking for it to be completed so that I could shop for appropriate under garmets in time for my son's wedding. I was very disappointed. The new hem (s) were not pressed, the lining was simply turned up one hem rather than the old hem being ripped out, excess material cut and then a new hem done, meaning the dress doesn't hang as it should, the dress smells like someone's perfume and I am allergic to scents. I would not go back.

This shop told my daughter that her dress will be ready in one week,TWO weeks later with no calls i finally went in. At first the women in the front said if they didn't call you is not done . She asked me when is the event and i said next week and that is when she start looking for it. Finally she founded it in the change room. Not only did this place has no customer service, has no clue where was going on but they was going to charge my daughter $70.00. So I took the dress back. This place is a joke for alterations.

Do not go here. 4 years ago I had amazing service getting my wedding dress altered here. I recently went to get my bridesmaids dress altered her and it was horrible service. The business has been sold has a nee owner. I feel you should change the name if you are not going to pffer the same high quality service Melanie did when she owned it. I had broken my foot and was in a wheelchair when I went in and called ahead to make sure it was okay to come in even though I was cutting my alterations pretty close to the wedding. When i got to the business the laddy working roled her eyes at me and then told me she couldnt take me becaue it was to much work . I felt so uncomfortable after and disheartened. I was just hoping for a little more empathy for my situation. So I went to another alterations place and they did it in 4 days. I do not think they have a proper alterations person who works there. I unfortunatly recomended friend who needed a quick alteration for her wedding dress and they didnt sew part of her wedding dress on and a day before her wedding she had to fix it her self. I just think if people are trusting you with important garments like a wedding dress you should let them know that ownership had changed or do not offer that service. I am mortified that I recommended a friend her and her dress was almost ruined. I am pretry sure they are more of a dry cleaning business then alterations. Please do not take any important garmets here like wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses. They do not have the expetise melanie had. Be honest with your clients if you cant offer the same sevices dont just take peoples money. Also staff definatly need a lesson in customer service. I know I csme in last minute which was because when i used this business perviously that was okay and i was unaware ownership had changed. I understand maybe that employee was stressed but in the moment while i was in a wheelchair with a broken foot i just needed compasion and understanding and i felt very small and unimportant in that moment.

Baby/children clothing alterations should not be priced the same as adult clothing alterations. 40$ for three 18 month old tops to be hemmed is absolutely ridiculous. I value the work you do, however, you need to be way more practical with your pricing. Definitely bringing my business elsewhere.

I took a men's jacket there that was too loose, they fitted me and took in the sides. It was ready in after a few days. The jacket fits perfectly now, and you cannot even tell it was altered--even with close inspection. Very reasonable pricing and highly recommended.

I was the wedding photographer for a wedding yesterday, and when the bride started to put on her dress we noticed that the zipper had fully broken in the process. Totally panicked, we all started to call local seamstresses hoping that somebody would be open to fixing it for us ASAP so that she wouldn't miss her own wedding ceremony. After calling about five others who all said things along the lines of nope
