GUS North Bay

My husband and I contracted with GUS North Bay to structurally stabilize our almost 90 year old cottage on a “pocket lake” north of North Bay. We’ve owned it for 8 years. It is a lovely place, on a gorgeous small peninsula. It has a proud DIY history, but was falling into significant disrepair.We began with planning for replacement and expanded decks on 3 sides of the cottage, new interior floors, door replacements, new siding, facia etc, some window replacements, and what we thought were some minor “foundation” reinforcements. At the beginning of the project, we asked Tim LaCelle, the GUS manager, to make the cottage sound for another generation (30 years). He and Brian Mason, the master jack of all trades assigned to our project, set out to do just that. There were many surprises along the way, requiring a significant amount of structural shoring up.GUS was fully transparent every step of the way, with careful explanations of what was required, and the cost and time implications. We found the costs reasonable and trusted the GUS approach to revised project estimates. Communications between us were excellent. Tim was always there on his phone and often at the site.We just cannot say enough about the meticulous and highest level of skill that Brian Mason, the lead hand, and his colleagues gave to our project. We believe that we received as much skill, craftsmanship, professionalism and care as any firm could provide to a client.We liked GUS so much that we asked them to do some additional work on our large sleep cabin, which they completed quickly and again with meticulous work.We are now happily enjoying the results of these efforts, are confident that our next generation will too, and fully endorse GUS North Bay as a renovation and restoration contractor. Our power went out on Easter Sunday and caused our sump pumps to not work. We have very large back up batteries that didn't engage either. The company that installed and services our very expensive pumps don't have an emergency number and wont answer any calls.GUS was at our house within 45 minutes of our initial call and troubleshooting and were able to further troubleshoot and address the issue. The expensive batteries we have that are supposed to have a rapid charge are not the correct connection to charge our batteries and the batteries had no charge despite the system saying they were fully charged.GUS was able to contact another company to get access to parts on a holiday and fix our issue so we don't flood after heavy rain and rapid snow melt.They are quick, knowledgeable, and efficient.

GUS recently completed a full restoration of our home. Their team went above and beyond on our project. They were so professional, knowledgeable and skilled. We are very happy with our final results and look forward to working with them again on any future projects. I have so much appreciation for their work ethic and attention to detail. Unless your very lucky, at some point you will suffer a property disaster that will feel like you've just been punched in the gut! It's the sensation that something is gone forever and it will never return to what you remember. I know that's what I felt sanding in destruction left from a burst pipe that had flood three floors with hundreds of gallons of water.Today, when I stepped into the repaired 183 Club after Tim LaCelle and his people had finished , it was like being healed. The Club was better than I remember. I completely forgot the devastation that had befallen the 183 Club.I cannot express the utter elation I felt looking at what GUS had done for us, there aren't enough stars or words to thank this professional crew for their labors.They also took the time to put our plaques and photos back where they had hung and set up the tables and chairs. It was a gift to step back into the building and find GUS had exceeded my wildest expectations.

After a sub pump malfunction, we ended up with a very wet basement. I called Tim LaCelle from GUS North Bay, He was quick to reassure me that his team would take care of everything and not to worry. They arrived promptly and discussed in full detail the necessary steps that would be taken. The team was respectful, knowledgeable and did an excellent job restoring our basement back to its dry comfortable state.I will gladly refer GUS North Bay to any of my friends and family.

Phenomenal service. We recently purchased a house with some cracks along the seams that had been completed a number of years ago. Tim was quick to come to the house to take a look. While it was no longer covered under the warranty, Tim still wanted to make sure that the workmanship was above par and went ahead and repaired it. He was flexible and able to have someone come in to fix the seams when it worked for our schedule. Tim has incredible integrity. I highly recommend GUS services - I'd give it more stars if I could!

I can't say enough good things! We first called GUS back in March when we had ice damming on our roof which caused water damage from roof to basement. Their response time for the emergency call was within a couple hours on a Sunday and Tim helped so much with the insurance claim. The biggest part of the repair was the main floor bathroom. and I couldn't be happier with the work. It looks like a magazine spread! Vince was so detail-oriented in his approach and had a lot of great ideas. His work, and that of everyone from GUS who came to our home, was top-notch. Professional, clean, and all within our budget. Would highly recommend!

GUS North Bay did wonderful work on our house. Initial event was flood damage throughout basement after a sump pump failure, but we had decided to totally renovate our formerly poorly insulated 70's style basement.
