Auberge Thon Jaune - Yellow Tuna

We stayed in June 2022 and enjoyed the setting very much, the house was clean and had everything we needed to make the house our home for a few days, the large back porch was enjoyed from sunrise to sunset, as well as, for looking at the stars at night. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit as well! Esther was so helpful prior to our arrival in regards to answering questions and making sure the space was ready for us, if we needed anything additional, such as my husband flowers, so they would be there when we arrived. It is on a marsh so there are mosquitoes and the noise from the road can be heard in the house and in the backyard, as the house is very close to the road and is local to many wonderful sights and places to eat. Wild Roots and Mr. González Mexican Cuisine were some of our favorite places to grab a bite to eat! It was a wonderful place to escape and relax, highly recommended!

Amazing location and equally awesome host. Amenities were top notch, and even off season there was plenty to do in the area. You'll get a nice breakdown of the local restaurants when you arrive, and we recommend checking out Tusket Falls brewery nearby as well. There's also nearby beaches and trails to enjoy or stargaze on.

Esther's beautiful house was the perfect location for a birthday weekend getaway. We booked the whole house for 2 couples, and there were plenty of amenities for everyone - lots of towels, deck chairs and pillows. The kitchen was well-stocked with every utensil imaginable so we were able to cook meals with ease. The bedrooms were large with comfortable beds and lots of natural light. But the biggest perk for us was the view. The house sits at the edge of the estuary, so we had a constantly changing view of water, vegetation and birds from the large back deck . We used both the hot tub and the firepit, so will have to return at some point to try out the sauna. The house is beautifully renovated with exposed beams, shiplapped walls and unique nautical decor. The location is convenient for trips to Yarmouth and other destinations, as well as hiking and boat tours. We wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Had a lovely time at Auberge Thon Jaune. Situated in a great spot - close enough to Yarmouth to be conveniently near shopping and restaurants but also far enough to feel as though you are a part-time resident of a beautiful and friendly little lobster-fishing village. The sea-side home itself is quaint, beautifully decorated and furnished and immaculately clean. Feels brand new! Best feature? Sitting in the hot tub at night and seeing the incredible sky filled with stars and constellations is unbelievably beautiful. The house is on a busier road but it seems to only service local traffic at night so not an issue for sleeping. Some photos from our Wedgeport experience attached. My partner and I were looking for a quiet local getaway and the Thon Jaune Auberge was perfect!It is evident that Ester put a lot of thought and love into this space. Due to Covid-19, we ended up having the entire place to ourselves. It truly has all the amenities; a BBQ , hot tub, sauna, luxury bathroom with soaker tub and towel warmer, kitchen with a great selection of wine glasses, etc. Ester graciously showed us how to use the outdoor amenities and made sure we had plenty of propane for cooking. There’s nothing more we could have wished for and are looking forward to booking again in the future!

A getaway even more special than we could have expected. We were able to enjoy some much needed R&R. The hot tub and steam sauna were such luxuries and made us feel we were truly on vacation - they were esp appreciated after all the local hiking trails we were able to explore within half hour drive from the inn. We had plans to dine-out daily, but after we checked in, we realized that cooking in for ourselves would be better and we weren't wrong.. even if it meant doing the cleaning afterwards too, it was still worth it! Napping was such a pleasure. Listening to music while cooking, and reading in the evenings while looking at the stars. Spa bathrooms and yoga mats were appreciated too. Esther (host) felt like a friend the first time we spoke, and was always available via email or phone if needed. She greeted us when we arrived, to give us a tour, and helped guide us when making plans to explore the area. A personal touch that won't be forgotten. We will definitely be back, hopefully next time with friends. We are already planning our next visit, the area is worth exploring!!

One of the nicest cottages we have ever visited. The accomodations are beautifully decorated and have every convenience you could ask for. We really loved watching the millions of stars from the hot tub and enjoyed our campfires when the evening cooled off. We will be back!!!

In August we booked the whole house for 2 couples for 4 nights, and there were plenty of amenities for everyone. Our host Esther was perfect and explained everything in detail when checking in. The kitchen was really well-stocked; we even had BBQ outside! The bedrooms were large and very comfortable, bathrooms were perfectly equipped! The house is just amazing. The view from the terrace was mesmerizing, a constant alternation of high and low tide. The location is convenient for trips to the Yarmouth area and other destinations, as well as hiking and boat tours and water sports. From here we also did a day trip to a whale watching tour at Digby neck.This house can be unreservedly recommended for quiet vacations

If I could give the Yellow Tuna six stars I would. The house is gorgeous, tastefully decorated, immaculate, has beautiful views of the water, plenty of linens & towels, as well as kitchen & bathroom supplies. The hot tub & fireplace in the living room top off an already incredible vacation experience. Esther, the owner, could not have more helpful. She met us when we arrived even though it was late in the evening. She went through all the features of the house & left us cream for our coffee, coffee beans, candy, soda & bags of ice. Her property manager John was also very accommodating. He even arranged for bait to be delivered to the house for our day of fishing. We experienced no issues while staying at the Yellow Tuna, but took comfort knowing if we had Esther would have responded quickly. All the locals we met were super friendly & very helpful. I’m sure we will find our way back to the Yarmouth NS area again & when we do, we will definitely stay at the Yellow Tuna.
