I've been on quite the hunt for asian food in toronto and I am very happy to say I have found a new favorite!! Not only was the food incredible but the adventure of finding this spot and the atmosphere really adds to the whole experience. The setting is like an old diner hidden in a little hallway in Kensington market. We got the tasting menu and left so so so stuffed, which for 80 dollars each i thought was very fair. Desert is a must, honestly can't say enough good things about sunnys, will be trying mimis the sister restaurant!

Vibes and service are honestly the best I’ve seen in Toronto in a while. Good twist on classic Chinese dishes. We did the Chefs menu which was a lot of food but an excellent deal for 80$. Each dish was thoughtful and presented beautifully.

Sunny’s is the coolest. It helps that it is in one of the oldest areas in Toronto. It helps that it is in the weirdest of buildings down an indoor alley way past a fortune teller and a mini bank machine. When you walk in the space is windowless giving a feeling of being in a basement. The lighting is superb and helps create this vibe that off centres you.Seating is well spaced and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.Trust in your chefs I always say and let them lead. $80 gets you enough food that you will have lunch the next day. It’s 10 courses and sometimes extra treats of delicious. It’s a great way to get to know the menu unless you bring 8 pals and that would also do the trick.I was mad for the pickles and also the spinach with tahini and black vinegar. Then again they always rock. Silken tofu was delicious and the crispy calamari so fine. The cumin laden Mongolian style lamb ribs and herb salad had a great balance. The toast that is the toast of the town was super and I am glad we had one portion for 2 as it’s delicious but very rich.Mocktails and cocktails are great. Order from the menu or simply tell the bar what you are into. Sakes are also a fun idea. They work well.

Hmm I don’t know about this one. Both my friend and I found this restaurant to be underwhelming. What we liked:1. Dan Dan Noodle was good2. Soy Milk Soft Serve and BlackBird HK French Toast were great, highly recommend3. The setting is nice and well decoratedWhat we disliked:1. The server was.. monotone. Doing the bare minimum, not enthusiastic2. Twice Cooked Pork was extremely salty3. The service was slow - lots of waiting for cocktails, food, and dessert.4. Server had mentioned that the items here are more of a sharing plates, and that we should order 4~5 - the food are small portion for the high end price.5. The small plates provided to each individuals are cheap plastic haha6. The auto-generated tipping options are 18%, 22%, and 24% lol that was just a nice made-me-laugh touch at the end to confirm my thoughts on this place. The quality and quantity were not worth the price. We had actually made a reservation few months ago, but we were contacted that they accidentally overbooked and that they couldn’t get us a table - although we had made the reservation long prior to that date.Decided to finally try this place today, but our expectations weren’t met.

I hadn’t been here since it was cold tea, and the space is almost unrecognizable! They did a great job with the revamp. And the food… we did the $80 chefs menu and it absolutely blew us away. Highlights were the husband and wife beef, orange chicken, calamari, lamb ribs and of course the French Toast dessert, which I had heard great things about.Everything exceeded our expectations, including the cocktails (I had one that tasted like an orange creamsicle which was AMAZING) and the service. Monique was helpful and attentive, and everyone else who touched our table was super sweet as well. Will definitely be back and will definitely tell everyone I know about this place!!

Came for the food, stayed for the vibe. Definitely the kind of spot you take someone who has come out of town or a spot for date night.Got a bunch of dishes but highly recommend the silver needle noodle and the cabbage. Both were amazing. The drinks were amazing too. Highly recommend the cold tea - great tasting drink and love that it pays homage to what used to be there.

Hidden gem for inspirational mix of Chinese food dishes in Kensington Market (at the back of a micro mall). They also have a nice patio at the rear which serves a different menu. It gets very busy once doors open so try to book in advance.

The immensely popular restaurant in downtown Toronto was difficult to get a reservation. I came with my colleagues on Monday at 9PM. Both of us were excited about the dinner over there, on account of how we tried to make reservations many times and didn't get the precise booking.Rely on our experience, most of the parts were excellent. The service was great and they presented the accurate details for all the dishes when they were on the table, and gave you advice to take order, so you don't need to hesitate to make decisions.I highly recommend it when you must keep the room to get dessert, even though there were only two dishes on the menu, don't make a choice, take them all, you never regret it.

FINALLY got to try this place after working so hard to land a reservation! Such a cute ambiance and the service was so nice! Now the food: really great flavours and my favourites were definitely the desserts (get both and mix them together - you won’t be sorry) the burning noodles, and the cabbage. Luckily the dumplings were on special and they were super juicy! The beef and broccoli was also really good. The only underwhelming one was the orange chicken - still good chicken and with the fresh orange it was tasty, just wanted a little more flavour on it. Overall this was a really great meal and I can’t wait to come back and try some of the other dishes!

Got a dinner reservation at 9 pm on a weekday after hearing good things about this place. The vibes were great and the food was decent. The restaurant had a cool retro Hong Kong feel, but the portions were a bit small for the price. They had an impressive drink selection, but I have to agree with other reviewers who said that Congee Queen or Asian Legend offer better taste and value. Nevertheless, this spot has a unique vibe that's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a fun atmosphere to hang out with friends and have some drinks. Just don't expect the food to knock your socks off.
