Satay House Malaysian Restaurant
As compared to the other Malaysian restaurant I have been their food is nothing but ordinary. Too pricey for the main meal on its own, you have to order rice and/or ikan bilis kacang separately. Ais kacang is covered with so much curved ice with very little red beans, corn and jelly. Cucumber in the chicken satay was not fresh, looks soo dry that I had to ask for a fresher portion. I don’t think I would ever come dine again and would not recommend the place. What a total disappointment indeed!

Haven’t been to Satay House since before the pandemic, and I was delighted to find it’s just as good as ever! Chicken satay and nasi goreng kampung really hit the spot. Make sure to book a table as it’s still super busy.

We booked for 2 on OpenTable. The food is great and special reward for the Kway Teow Goreng which was yummy and tasty. We also went for the Rendang Daging which was a bit spicy. The Satay with the cashew sauce was super good. I would also recommend the Kopi after the meal :)Definitely recommend that place.I would said the first room is a bit noisy but that would depend if there is a big group (which was the case for us).

We ordered the kari laksa, nasi goreng kampung, nasi goreng sayur, satay and beef rendang. Everything was lip-smacking delicious and tasted authentic. The nasi goreng kampung and rendang were spicy, just like back home (if you're from Malaysia or Singapore). The teh tarik tasted pretty good although it was a tad thin. The bandung drink was excellent. The portions are pretty big and good for sharing. Throughout our dinner, classic Malay songs were played. And finally, a shout out to the service staff who managed to accommodate us despite a faux pax with the booking. Two thumbs up!

Initially slow service (drinks took ages) but nice enough staff, though awkward when one of them nervously quizzed us on why we were sitting at the wrong table (we’d asked if it were OK as the other table was cramped next to a group and right buy an opening door, gusting in cold air).Menu only viewable via scanning barcode and using your phone, absolutely ridiculous and totally unacceptable for a restaurant of this price point. Really difficult to see everything clearly and make decisions.Starters: friend’s spring rolls looked nice; my hollowed-out tofu with beansprouts was a simple dish but the dipping sauce was very good. My main of fish curry was delicious, but disappointingly small. Side of tofu and beansprouts was OK, but very simple and needed some soy sauce on the table. Friend enjoyed his noodle dish.Overall, a rather underwhelming experience though I’d certainly like to try a double portion of that fish curry. In the past I'd perhaps give a '3', but with everything so expensive now, it's a '2', especially with the menu nonsense.

With the restaurant being known for its authentic Malaysian food, I was not impressed. I expected the food to taste better. Some of the dishes lacked flavour. Overall food was ok. However I don't think I will go back there anytime soon as I know of a couple of restaurants which serve tastier Malaysian food. Saying that I'd still recommend to try it at least once. The staff are lovely and attentive. The place is clean. It gets busy in the evenings, so a nice buzzing atmosphere without being too noisy.
