Talus Dome (Silver Ball Tower)

Originally I was one of the angries that my tax money went into this. Now I think the amount of discussion the dome has sparked is amazing and hilarious. I’m proud of these ballz. They are unique and random. Fitting for Edmonton.

Honestly there isn’t much to this. Obviously it catches the eye when driving in the White mud but there isn’t an easy way to stop and see it. In fact it often turns into a “next time” stop should you remember. It’s on a grass hill by a busy road and it’s loud. I stopped for you snd its not worth the stop! But here are some pictures.

Polarizing is the one word I can think of when describing this sculpture. I have looked at the reviews and either you love it or hate it. The 3.3 rating bears that out. Personally I love it. Isn’t that what art is supposed to do? It has elicited some unique comments either way. It’s in a highly visible spot and that is good because lots of people get to see it. I believe this sculpture has done its job because it gets people to think about it and what it means personally to them. Seeing it up close is really how to see it. I definitely recommend coming here to see it. Ignore the money that was spent on it and just appreciate it for what it is, a piece of art work that elicits emotion. Art is subjective

Has emergency trap door!Unfortunately, it took a sort of hoax for us all to find out. A guy named Wakeem Coutoreille got stuck inside these balls. Getting him cut out by firemen earned him 15 seconds of fame, & a court date for Mischief. In a even more unfortunate turn of events, the whole thing overshadowed a story about a guy named Ken Courtoreille who was in the news for murdering a young girl. #StrangeStories #JustSaying#TalusBalls #MurderBall

Loved it! 1st time I ever hiked this path. Trails are great, bikers little surprised how many there was, all where nice. Also surprised how many people on the trails.

It was definitely worth the $600,000. In fact I'd like to see more Talus dome balls in Edmonton. The next one should be on Wayne Gretzky Drive.

2022 June 4★CITY OF EDMONTON public art collection priced at over $600k a bit tad expensive, but tourists do come and see it. It is unique and great for pictures.Talus Dome ( 2012 ) by Ball - Nogues Studio This structure is Composed of nearly 1,000 handcrafted stainless steel spheres that assume the shape of an abstracted pile or mound.Come see the many reflections of yourself. It's actually pretty nice. For more information, you can visit edmontonpublicart.caThere are a few parking spots (3 or 4) just under the bridge in a nook in the road. So it's just a quick stop.Expect to spend about 15 minutes here.

It's just nice .. a quick stop for a photo;) We can see bikers/joggers/kayakers going around this place.. as it connect to the Sir Wifrid Laurier park and next to the river.

Go Canucks Go. Great place to snap a pic of yourself, your car and your favorite team flag. The locals were very happy to take my pictures. Thanks Edmonton.

Public art does not have to beatiful to be appreciated. It does not have to be in a perfect location to be appreciated. This one is beautiful in an awkward location but I love it.
