Partnered with a doula for both of my births (2019 & 2021), and can’t share enough how it was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my journey, my partner’s and by extension for our children as well. Having MotherWit in Montreal and Ottawa as a service organization and dedicated team is such an asset to the community. Thankful, thankful.

At first we were hesitant on having a doula for the birth of our first child, but it ended up being the best decision we could make. In the months leading up to the birth Steph was helpful and available whenever we had any questions regarding symptoms of pregnancy or any anxieties about the labor itself. On the actual day of the birth she was a rockstar, and made my husband and I feel completely at ease knowing we were being looked after, while also giving us our space to live the very personal experience of giving birth as a couple. If you are considering hiring a doula I would not hesitate to recommend Steph and MotherWit to anyone.

We are so incredibly grateful to have had Steph DeSousa as our Doula throughout my pregnancy and my post partum period. Her breastfeeding expertise and support made a world of difference in helping me reach my goals. Steph was not only very professional but also so friendly and warm: seeing her walk through our front door for every post partum visit was like a warm hug and instant comfort as we knew each time we would be in the best of hands. No words can express how grateful and fortunate we are to have Steph De Sousa support us in our postpartum phase with our newborn. We are new in the city with no family or friends here who can help us, and Steph simply made up for it. She brought the wisdom and experience of a mother, the love of a sister and the gentleness of a friend. I'm a doctor and I can also attest to the high level of her knowledge, specially when it comes to infant sleep and breastfeeding. We highly recommend this group, specially Steph!

I can't emphasize enough, the importance of a wonderful Doula. Faster labour, reduces the risk of complications and improves the overall birth experience. My partner and I were so happy, grateful and pleased with our doula Megan. We chose Megan as our sibling doula, after hearing such wonderful things, in a local online parenting forum. We were not disappointed. We were new to the city, and didn't have our support network nearby. Our eldest has severe autism, and therefore looking after him can be challenging. Megan rose to the occasion, allowing me to relax and focus on the task at hand. In providing this invaluable service, watching our sweet boys, my partner was able to stay by my side. We delivered our sweet baby boy earthside. After 12 hours of labor. Relaxed, knowing our babies were in capable, loving hands. With a doula who honours our gentle parenting philosophy. Our children were happy, we were happy. It truly takes a village. Montreal has many Doula companies, if you are looking for the best one. In my humble opinion, your quest is over.I highly recommend MotherWit Doula Care.

Absolutely loved taking the prenatal course with Lesley a month prior to the birth of our first child. She gave me so much critical information about birth and then post partum stages of pregnancy. She brings so much experience and knowledge of the different factors that can impact one’s pregnancy journey and how to cope/handle them. I would highly recommend this course if you to anyone!!

I am so grateful that a friend told me about MotherWit when I was halfway through my pregnancy. A Doula was exactly what I needed to guide me through the incredible journey of birth. I am so grateful that I decided to give birth with doula Barbara. Since My first birth and delivery were a bit traumatic for me as they ended up with a C-section. I wanted to be more prepared for the next pregnancy, birthing & delivery.From the first call, I was sure that Barbara is my person, a person who is very supportive, sincere and professional. Barbara gave me a clear picture of giving birth in Montreal as I am new here. She always got answers to any questions that I had during my pregnancy and labour &delivery.I like she never avoids straight questions and gives the best pieces of advice and options which are based on research and my preferences.During labour & delivery, she did everything to make it soft. I can’t imagine if she weren’t there. She made an enormous job, always advocating my choice and standing on my side while mitigating circumstances to balance between my preferences and hospital “protocols” to find a better way for me.It was hard to avoid epidural last two hours but thanks to Barbara, she knew exactly what I need to do without odd questions. She was supportive physically massaging in time, helping me choose a better position and mentally to cheer me up whenever it was needed.I would highly recommend Barbara as a professional in her job. I would say it’s more than a “job”, it feels how dedicated she is, like it’s her spiritual devotion.She always standing on your side that’s very important when sometimes you have different fluctuations of mood: feeling down/undecided/or almost giving up.Thank you. I would choose Barbara again (If I ever decide to go for the 3rd child :D) and would recommend everyone who wants to experience a consciousness and soft birthing & delivery.
