Dealt with Carter. Had an amazing customer service experience. A colour of the item I wanted was sold out so I was contacted to see if an alternative was fine. Quickly switched my order and shipped the items quickly. Will order from Wilderness Supply again in the future.

Super friendly and helpful staff. It was my first time at this store and asked for help finding compasses. The young lady was more than happy to show me the way. I'm very happy with the product and it was at a reasonable price compared to some of the big box stores. My only complaint is that it took me a few times driving around the block to fund their parking area.

I’m not normally one to review, but my partner felt I should as do I. I've been kayaking for a while and was looking for a new boat to upgrade my current kayak, and be one my partner and I could both use but mostly me.Sadly I don’t know the name of the person we dealt with, but he was dressed in mostly camo, had a bun, and a lot of Cabela's vibes. This was a couple months ago, and despite supply chain issues store's inventory was fantastic, but this salesperson spent most of the time talking to my partner and I felt quite ignored despite being the more experienced paddler. This particularly made my partner unhappy as it felt very car salesman talking only to the man. He kept changing the conversation to fishing kayaks as we assumed he only knew about them and was kind of making up information as he went along for the mid range touring boats we were looking at. The outdoor industry is an very male dominated industry and it is tough to be a woman trying to enjoy outdoor spaces, this salesman clearly perpetuates that mentality. It was noticed by not only me, but my partner who also felt uncomfortable by it.(Reply to Owners Response)I assume “Owner” means the owner of the store, not the account, so firstly thank you for your response and for taking time out of your day to address this. I was initially planning on putting a kind reply for that reason, however, the outdoor sport sports community of Manitoba is a small tight knit one and I have through the grapevine heard what the employee whose name I have learned (but will leave out for privacy sake as I respect that even though I feel he does not respect me) has said in response to my review and I’d like to address two things in particular.Firstly, he said my partner was the one keeping me quiet. This quite honestly is absolutely false. My partner and I were both uncomfortable with the situation, in fact as I had said previously, he was the one to suggest I put this online. To have criticism put forward towards yourself and then deflect it off to someone else clearly shows a lack of maturity and an inability to acknowledge the problem you’re perpetuating. My partner is beyond supportive and an ally, do not insult him.Secondly, he said I was just quiet. If he thinks I am “just quiet” then maybe he should reflect on the environments he puts forth and if they make women feel comfortable talking around him. To me, it is a wild idea to have someone review your service saying they felt ignored and to have the response be she was just quiet. The response should only be I’m sorry and must reflect on how I present myself.I don’t want to paint Wilderness Supply with a bad brush, this could just be one employee, I’ve heard amazing things from other customers about other staff. I did learn he is a Supervisor (or Lead or whatever terminology they use) and fear that having oppressive males training staff just pushes this mentality further and further. Less than half your store is fem (with most in Thunder Bay apparently), in a male dominated industry, perhaps the female management should reflect on who they promote and who trains their staff.I believe in supporting local, so I shall continue to do so. However, I will only shop online as to avoid that particular staff member. Simply put, he does not deserve my time.

It was so good to walk into a place where the staff really knows their stuff! Sandy helped me find a few different options for what I was looking for, and gave me some new things to consider.I really like their charitable initiative with the socks. Great idea!I’d definitely recommend this store and Sandy anytime!

I ordered a few paddling accessories online from Wilderness Supplies and the experience was awesome! Their emails kept me in the loop and the package got here quickly - faster than I expected. And their price was sharper than other Canadian paddles shops I checked.I’ll buy from them again. Wilderness Supplies has my highest recommendation.

I very much so wanted to like this business. However, after being greeted and asked if I needed any assistance, which I declined. (I was looking for a pair of winter gloves, which I had already located). The salesperson continued to stand over me, as I looked through their available merchandise. Feeling as though I was being treated as a suspected shoplifter gave me such an off-putting feeling, I immediately left the store. This was an unfortunate experience and I hope that others who attend their establishment do not feel as though they are being discriminated against, as I did.I cannot comment to their selection of wilderness supplies.

I was very impressed with the service we received from wilderness supply. They ordered some electric mitt batteries in for me that I couldn’t find anywhere. The communication with them was excellent, they kept me updated on what was happening and when myProduct was coming, and when it arrived they mailed it out to me no charge so we didn’t have to drive 1.5 hours to Winnipeg to pick it up.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff that actually have used these products. It's always my go to store when I'm looking for outdoor gear, whether this store in Winnipeg or it's sister store in Thunder Bay, ON. They are also one of the few stores that sells my favourite brand, Patagonia. I highly recommend this store!
