The Merrickville Book Emporium

I have been there a few times and always left with books that I could not have found anywhere else! A great jewel of a used books store!

Great proprietor, knows his books and has a few very difficult to find items. I found numerous books in my field and spent over 100$. Also takes in local authors and sells their books giving the store a nice local feel. In one of the books I bought he knew the back story of the book and pointed out that the previous owner had made some notes in the margins giving more insight to the book.

I was surprised to find a book store of this size in such a small town!The walls were packed with books but the collection is one of the most organized I've seen.This is a true 'independent' place and the couple were right in the shop, which added to the charm.

This store is located in an old heritage building and is very attractive. They have a great history collection. I bought a copy of 1776 for $6 and a history of the canoe for $12.Will definitely go back when I am in the area.

Good selection but it’s hit or miss whether they keep their weekday hours. Just arrived for the second time to find it closed during posted hours. Someone was actually locking up at 11:45 am on a Wednesday as I pulled up. No more weekday trips to this place. Tourist Saturday’s only. Unfortunate because their collection is a good one.

The absolute best place to go if you are a bookworm or even if you are just stopping by the village for a day trip.Michael has a huge selection of quality books and many eclectic and rare finds. If you are looking for a casual series, a 1984 or Lord of the rings or perhaps something rare and unique Michael probably has it or can probably source it. A tremendously useful service to have in the village.His store also specializes in local literature and he has a collection of many local authors and books published on this history of merrickville, the canal and its players.The product aside, Michael is also extremely knowledgable and can tell you something about almost every author or book. You won't walk out of that store without learning something.Highly recommend !

My favourite place for secondhand books. New inventory comes in regularly - there's always something new to find.

As a new author, I rely on people with knowledge of the industry to help me to navigate in a world foreign to me. Michael has gone out of his way to do just that, first by hosting a book-signing event and then by stocking my book. He has been incredibly helpful in the process. Most importantly, he offers, both to residents of the town and to its visitors, an eclectic selection of used books in a friendly and welcoming space.

I absolutely LOVE this store and it’s possibly the best used book store in the entire province.. I collect books and always manage to find gems when I go there.. In fact, this store is one of the only reason I even visit Merrickville (I live about an hour away). Incredible customer service. Super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable.I salute you Merrickville book Emporium
