Before meeting with her, I wasn’t sure what I needed or even where to start with my financial situation, I just knew I needed help. Through the process of one on one meetings, I was able to walk away feeling capable, aware and empowered to make important decisions. She took a considerable amount of time to explain in detail the reality of my debts which included a Judgement and Writ of Enforcement; the options available and a step by step instruction of what to expect with each possible path.She is very knowledgeable, eloquently spoken, encouraging and very down to earth. This provided a non judgemental conversation where I felt heard and confident in her abilities. I was able to reach a resolution to my personal debt problem without having to use the services offered such as Consumer Proposal or Bankruptcy entirely because I was given accurate information and I didn’t feel pressured to commit to anything. Making big decisions like those take time and careful consideration which she supported me through. At first, my situation felt daunting, overwhelming and instinctively, I wanted to avoid it. It was great though that Grant Thorton allows you to book an appointment online, meet with the Trustees completely for free and I was able to have these visits by phone which was convenient. If I would have known I had so many options, or that reaching for help would be so rewarding, I would have done it much sooner.
