Nepean School of Music

I enrolled my son in piano lessons at Hummingbird Music, and it was a fantastic experience for him. He had already begun lessons at school but wanted to take it up a notch and learn with a professional. Even after just a short month of lessons, I could hear how much more fine-tuned his playing was and how his confidence in himself had sky-rocketed. Tammy Raybould was his teacher, and I would highly recommend her. She is patient, professional, and very talented!

I learned more as a coop student and taking lessons at Nepean School of Music than I ever could have on my own. The environment and staff were great, and every teacher (aka band coach) made sure everyone grew not only on a musical level, but on a personal level as well. Time spent at the Nepean School of Music is time well spent.

I have taken guitar, piano and vocal lessons here and all were great experiences for me. The teachers are all professional, knowledge and friendly. The teachers came up with fun and creative ways to help me learn to read music better, which I thought was really awesome and made it way more fun especially when I was younger and did not fully appreciate the skill of reading music yet! I love that there is always lots of opportunities to perform and the teachers helped me learn to be a better performer as well as a better musician. All of the staff, not just my own teachers, are always very supportive of me and help me grow and learn as a musician. They really care about the improvement and happiness of all the students. My teacher, Tammy Raybould, even went above and beyond to help me learn about song writing and other aspects of the music industry when I showed an interest in it. I feel very grateful to learn from so many exceptional musicians and be part of the family atmosphere at NSM. I would recommend NSM to anyone, they are the whole package when it comes to learning music.

As a child, I took both guitar and voice lessons at Nepean School of Music and was excited to bring my own child there to start piano lessons in recent years. The teachers are passionate about music and this is passed on directly to their students. The level of professionalism and kindness from this business is exceptional. I would highly recommend them anyone looking for music lessons (and already have!) It's also amazing to see how many students from my generation have gone on to careers in music - this is a direct reflection of the quality of instruction at NSM.

My family and I highly recommend the Nepean School of Music! My son is taking drumming lessons, my spouse is taking guitar lessons, and my daughter and I are both taking singing lessons. We feel right at home here. The office staff are very friendly, professional and accommodating. The instructors are absolutely fabulous - they're knowledgeable and skilled in the art, and they have helped all of us to progress and further our skills in our respective areas. Additionally, the opportunity to perform on stage after each session is a real treat! Learning how play an instrument is one skill, and learning how to perform, engage and entertain the audience is another. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to learn both sets of these skills at the Nepean School of Music!

I have been to this school many times over the years with my own children and have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff, the owners and in the curriculum. This music school far exceeds any other school in Eastern Ontario and it should be no surprise to anyone that it has been in business for over 40 years. Highly recommend it.

Hello,I am one of the teachers at the Nepean School of Music. Each teacher approaches music education differently, which makes NSM extremely versatile in this respect. Teacher-student relationship is very important; I would not, for example, teach Jazz methods and pop classics, but I do have over 25 years of experience in the classical music and Royal Conservatory approach.Learning an instrument long-term can be one of the most rewarding pursuits in life, both academically and as a hobby. It is also a delicate pursuit, as there are so many distractions in life. Communication with teachers about expectations and what motivates the student to progress is the key to success.Attached are some accomplishments from higher level students, and I can vouch that all teachers at NSM have mastered their craft and approach to teaching music. As someone who has been playing music professionally for 20 years and has been involved with the Hummingbird school of music in many different capacities including developing close friendships, I would like to say that any student of this school is TRULY in good hands at The Hummingbird School Of Music.
