This made a huge difference in achieving the vision we had in mind.2. He knows his field.We learned there are various types of wood in reclaimed barn beams but that only some selections would best meet our desired look. Armed with knowledge based on his explanations, we confidently chose a majestic hand-hewn 150-year-old hemlock beam from his collection. It humbly displays the original wear marks made by the ropes used long ago to hoist it into place.3. He’s extremely accommodating to help reach final decisions.As the project evolved, we needed to decide on the final treatment — to stain or not to stain — what would give us that Scandinavian look we were after? Before any treatment was placed, Adam created samples of all the different stain choices which worked best with hemlock. He even brought the beam to our home (!) so it could be held in place and observed in natural light. In the end, we chose to finish with a natural wax coat which he performed on-site to ensure a per-Christmas delivery.From that first barn meeting to the final installation in our home, Adam ensured our entire experience was outstanding.
