I saw the billboard on highway 24 and it stuck in my mind. Got to my friends and googled, saw the pics and all the food looked yummy. We decided to give it a try. We were walking in there with pretty high expectations, which in past we have come to realize is not a good thing because then it usually falls flat on the expectation alone.Well.... THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!We told our waitress first thing that we were new and from that moment on we could feel that she wanted to make sure we had a great experience. She was very personable and it was apparent she enjoyed working there as she told us she was a super long time employee and she was proud of that. Honestly, there wasn't a thing that I feel they could have done better.1. Staff... all excellent from what I watched.2. Menu... so perfect! Large menu with a great variety of the hometown italian classics. It was a tough choice because there was so much we wanted to try.3. Food...just out of this world! We had a lasagna which had meat, it was a good portion with lots of ooey cheese and the sauce was excellent. definitely not bland. We also had the chicken with alfredo noodles and that was very flavourful and the chicken again with lots of cheese on top. We had ceasar salad, with real dressing, not from a jar. homemade. We tried the creme brulee cheesecake and the carrot cake. All absolutely excellent.4. Ambiance... it was like walking into the old pizza chief. The smell alone told me I was in the right place. Everything was clean and tidy and I felt like there was a good amount of privacy at the table.5. To top it off... this may not matter to some but it just made my day after living through a painful pandemic. I was just ecstatic to see all the staff come out and happily sing their rendition of a happy birthday song to someone. It was so nice to feel that normalcy all coming back and everyone actually appreciating their singing instead of the old feel of oh man this again".Seriously... hats off to the management and crew for creating a top notch dining experience. We will absolutely be back on a regular basis!!!"

Nothing fancy at Barrel. The food is good, but not my taste. The red sauce is a little different than I am used to, but everyone has their own tastes.The service was great. The hostess and server were very nice and attentive. Making a few suggestions helped navigate the menu.

This place was a great little discovery for us. The food was amazing, portions were good and the staff very pleasant. I definitely recommend going and discovering delicious food on your travels!

We decided to come back as our first experience back in 2020 was pleasant; but the place has gone downhill from a food perspective. We ordered lasagna and it was mediocre… the sauce tasted like canned cheap sauce, the presentation of the dish was awful… we also ordered the creole linguini and mussels were not fresh, sauce was bland.The waitress was not really attentive.It’s disappointing that even with now higher prices the food is worse and disappointing.Please do not spend your time nor money here…——————————————————————————Original review from 2020:Good food, good prices, good menu (also for kids). The only thing is we came to have lunch on Saturday and it was busy and the service was slow.

My opinion is the food was good but not great. My waitress was fabulous and helpful in picking out a local beer, which was great. The salad was good but even chain restaurants serve better. The breadstick with the salad was very good, the roll with the meal was fresh. The lasagna was good, I liked the sauce but it was a bit heavy on stewed tomatoes and light on meat. To be frank I can make better lasagna at home. There was a good amount of cheese in it though.

Very good food, large portions, lots of options, nice feel to the place boardering on cozy. Booths with decent room for 4 and lots for 2, or tables where you can seat a larger party. I have always enjoyed my visits and normally leave with a to go box. It is a little on the above average for price, but if you look at the portions it is fully justified, and comes out to a fair deal I think, and that is before you add in the service and atmosphere :). It looks like there was a small bar as well.

Pasta sauce was enjoyable pasta could have been drained a little longer but overall satisfying. Bread sticks were fresh but very little flavour, good for dipping but not on their own. Pizza was excellent, but could have used a little more time in the oven for a stronger crust, pizza couldn't hold up the two toppings ordered just floppy. There were some issues with the Caesar Salad, The dressing was very bland. Staff confirmed something was missing and comped us desert. The staff was very friendly and they worked well as a team, 3-4 servers attended our table during our dinner.
