Oshan Whale Watch

This whale watch was a highlight of our trip. It was affordable as far as whale watches go. The captain was soft spoken and a genuine fisherman who would answer our questions and loan us his binoculars. This isn't like the big boats out of Boston I had been on before. It was a small boat and it felt like going out on the water with friends. We saw several pilot whales close up and possibly another large whale in the distance. The captain's daughter was on board and helps to record whale sightings. She was helpful and kind as well. The scenery is breathtaking. Had we not seen any whales, it would have still been a highlight of the trip.The water was choppy because of a storm. The captain was cautious and didn't push it even when other passengers tried to push him to go farther out into open waters. We felt safe and relaxed the whole time. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

We weren’t able to see any Whales but got to see some seals and great views of the coastline

First I will say that the boat trip was great, we got great views of the ocean. We did spot some whales and a seal though it was mostly the tail fin or a hump at a time. I understand this is more luck than science (though I wish they had used some tools to determine where the whales were). What made the experience bad for us was the behavior of the captain. He was extremely unfriendly, he would speak to only one group on the boat and when I asked him a question or asked him to repeat what he said cause we couldnt hear him, he proceeded to make fun of us. We saw previous reviews of what a great experience he made it, so maybe he was having an off day. But it is really bad that he was behaving in that way with us.

Our family had a wonderful experience with this ocean tour company. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and have a great sense of humour as well. We managed to see many whales (pilot and right wales) almost instantly after leaving the harbour, yet the captain gave us ample time and gave us a great tour of the coast and managed to show us many other ocean creatures along the way. It was a wonderful experience and was the highlight of our summer vacation. Well worth the drive to Bay Saint Lawrence!!

The captain was very professional and friendly. Despite not seeing any whales, the captain took us to appreciate the beautiful coastal scenery as much as possible and even showed us seals, fishing lobsters and... the Bluenose II sailing on the sea! Yes, the genuine Bluenose II! I checked the schedule, and on that day, this legendary ship happened to be sailing on the waters of North Cape Breton!

Amazing!Not only did we see TONS of whales(and beautiful scenery)we had the absolute best captain!! He was super friendly,knowledgeable and funny.Absolutely worth every penny!!!I wish they sold t-shirts!

I took the wale tour early August 2022. Great experience! We didn't see any wale at the first half of the tour. The captain didn't give up, keep searching and we saw a lot of wales! Some wales were really close to us. The captain was very patient and generous. The total time was over a little bit. We really appreciated! Very happy to give tips.

Overall a great venture, great price, and well worth the trip to Bay St. Lawrence! It was cool to get to go out on a fishing vessel and see what it's like. The skipper was friendly, funny and the whole experience has the casual feel of a buddy taking you out for a ride.We lucked into beautiful sunny day. We saw a minke whale, harbour porpoises, seals, loads of seabirds, and even lions mane jellyfish! He then took us to the northernmost point of Cape Breton, up close to a beautiful waterfall and a seal hangout. If you're travelling the Cabot Trail make sure to take this detour!

Excellent trip with Oshan Whale Watch and Captain Fraser. He was knowledgeable and funny, and made sure we saw pilot whales, seals, and the beautiful Cape Breton coastline. Our group of older adults, young adults and teens all thought trip was excellent! 100% recommend!!

This was an amazing experience. A great price, a beautiful trip out on to the ocean and we got to see some great things. Our captain was great and same with all the deck hands.It was pet friendly ( if others were okay with having them in the boat) so we brought both of our pups along.We got to see pilot whales, seals, and lots of different birds. It was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had and would 10/10 do it again.
