Long & McQuade Musical Instruments

This place is excellent. The staff are very approachable, knowledgeable and provide unbias reviews of the products. I would highly recommend musicians of all levels come and check this store out! They've got such a wide range of instruments, sheet music and audio equipment and the right staff to help you make an informed decision.

Saw a gearhunter deal and paid for it online. Even got pick up email. Went to pick up and the item was not only sold five days ago, that were not reflected in their website - but got invoiced for a demo unit! Shady business and dysfunctional website.Update: Within a day, Mark -the store manager got in touch and made it right. He honored the web price and even followed up to see it was done correctly. I appreciate the gesture and updated the review from 1* to 5*

Came to pick up some reeds for my daughter and ended up staying longer to browse around. Store is really big and lots of musical instruments and staffs are friendly and knowledgeable.

Good L&M location with a well-balanced instrument selection, but would love for it to be even better in a few areas. Some points as a semi-regular:- Customer management could use a bit of improvement, as there have been a few times when I've been kept waiting too long to either make a simple purchase or request.- Improve the maintenance of floor instruments and gear. I've turned away from trying a couple of guitars because they were completely covered in dust. May have been some missed opportunities from that.- While this was only based on one experience, the guitar maintenance/repair turnaround time of 3 weeks was definitely slower than other L&M locations I've received service from. The technician was very communicative and did a fantastic job setting up my guitar as soon as it came up in the queue, but I'd only come back for additional service if I was willing to be patient.

My experience from this store was not good. I specifically came from Windsor to the store. I emailed in advance just because I wanted one specific piece of Octopad and they said it is available and they gave me the serial number as well but when I reach at the store and they gave me the Octopad, but it was not working. The sound quality of the was very bad I was very disappointed. The staff was very nice humble but they couldn’t help me. I drove all the way from Windsor to Steele just because I wanted this piece but you know I wasted my trip. They could have told me in advance that it’s not working.

I had an amazing experience buying a brand new Yamaha YAS 280 saxophone from Long & McQuade. The staff provided excellent customer service. The saxophone was in perfect condition, reflecting their commitment to quality. I highly recommend Long & McQuade for their exceptional service and top-notch instruments.

By far the best location and the best staff. I am a newbie when it comes to guitar and Thomas and Paul taught me everything I needed to know and how to maintain. It was comforting and didn't feel like a sales approach to get me to buy more products. I feel assured I made the right decision by buying the right guitar for me and I believe every retail employee should have this attitude with customers. Can't thank them both enough for all they have done with very little ease. Extremely happy.

I went today to replace and tune my violin strings. Michael is absolutely amazing and patient! He taught me a lot of tips and tricks as well. We had a great conversation and I could not ask for a better experience.

I recently bought a guitar from this location and the service from Paul in the acoustic guitar department was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and consistently went far above and beyond my expectations to ensure I ended up with an instrument in the best possible condition. If that level of service and expertise is any indication of the store as a whole, I couldn’t recommend this location highly enough!

I've been to many L&M's throughout Ottawa/Toronto and each one is lovely + has pretty great staff, but this one blew me out of the water. I had two lovely individuals help me with my many questions regarding the R-10 ribbon mic, and a proper preamp that could do it justice. I went in with lots of background research, but that research also led to me having a million+1 questions because I'm very new to the ribbon-mic world for strings/violin-work. Dennis and Nolan, alongside Pete, were out of this world with their knowledge, friendliness, patience, and *ahem* tailored support. We were even cracking some jokes by the end of it! What I appreciated the most, I think, was that they didn't judge me through the process, if they didn't know the answer, they checked in with each other to confirm details and verify info. It felt very human, and I felt like I was in the best hands possible. Not only that, but they didn't push me to spend more $$ than I needed to. They taught me about the equipment through the process, and looked out for my wallet in the process. I literally could not have felt more supported in my musical journey, and if it weren't for these folks, I would have been quite lost. I spoke to the Mark (manager) about it to celebrate these lovely individuals and the team as a whole; however, I had to post the experience here as well because you will *genuinely* be taken care of here. Well. fricken. done! Boom goes the dynamite!PS if I may say this to L&M as a whole or to upper management, please consider giving Dennis, Nolan, Pete, and Mark a raise or show some appreciation in monetary form, like a bonus. They are the front-end engines of the business responsible for keeping folks like myself coming back without question.
