Wielenga Motors

I had a very unpleasant experience with Wielenga Motors.We were in a minor accident which resulted in our car needing a tow. We had called CAA and a driver was on his way, but a police officer called Wielenga motors who was just around the corner as the officer felt we were in an unsafe location which I understood. However Alan was quite aggressive with the whole situation and not transparent with what he was doing. He then charged us over $700.00 for a 5 minute tow and would not move his truck until we paid. The situation was very unnerving and we felt taken advantage of.

I was stranded on Herley Rd. near the intersection of Telephone Rd. 10 mins from this shop.I could not go up the hill to go south of the highway in the recent Christmas Eve snowstorm severe weather event. So I pulled over on the side of the road and parked my car for the night. My friend with a plow truck then gave us a lift to his home and we stayed the night and came back in the morning to get our car. Except it wasn't there.. Herley is a side street and not well travelled. It was also not plowed by the county and remained so on Christmas Day (the day after the storm passed). OPP put a call out to tow vehicles to several tow truck drivers on Christmas Eve.The owner of Wielenga clearly took advantage of this situation to tow anything in sight. My car was not obstructing traffic, not snow covered, and not damaged. It was parked in front of another vehicle well on the shoulder of the roadway in a clear area. On top of this, this business does not answer their phone or respond to messages, and they left us stranded for hours on Christmas Day, and then proceeded to extort us for over $500 CAD for a 10 min tow that we didn't ask for, and was not needed.I cannot believe this company has an OPP contract. And the depth of depravity to exhort people on Christmas Day for extravagant amounts because OPP gives you a free hand, and further leave them stranded for hours looking for their car because you don't answer your phone or have a secretary. If there were negative stars I would put infinity negative starts.

Towing after hitting a deer. Very uncooperative as to where to tow vehicle. Held vehicle needlessly for days and charged exorbitant fees!! Nothing but a crook!

Helped us out massively when our tire blew out on the 401 on the way to our wedding. He didn't even charge us for the replacement! Huge thank you!!

After I was rear ended, the OPP called Wielenga. When Alan arrived he asked where I wanted my car towed to. As I hadn't talked to my insurance company yet, I asked him to tow the car to his POUND and I would be in touch with him that afternoon or the next day and tell him where the car should go. My Claims Adjuster requested the car be taken to CarStar in Trenton. I attempted to contact Alan. There was only an answering machine on his number. My Claims Adjustor stated that he was having the same problem. 7 days later I have learned that Alan Wielenga is holding my car ransom for outrageous fees that must be paid by certified check or he won't release my car. I can not believe that this man has an OPP contract.

I had my vehicle towed on Sunday afternoon and I called Monday to verbally release my vehicle to my insurance company. It is now 3 days later and they are not answering the phone to anyone after saying they will call my insurance company back on Tuesday. I was told that they do this on purpose to collect more money from the insurance company. Out right unprofessionally

Our vehicle was stuck within a snow ditch in Colborne on Dec 23 and could not get any roadside assistance to fix our situation. Our entire road (in the middle of nowhere) were full of other storm victims. The OPP came and advised everyone to leave their vehicle behind for safety's sake.After barely finding shelter for 2 nights with my fiancée and dog, we attempted to retrieve our vehicle on Christmas Day with the help of a local towman. Our towman informed me that the OPP was planning to tow all the cars off that road so I immediately called OPP to request not to tow our vehicle as we were only 15 min away. To my dismay, Wielenga motors took our car anyway, along with every other car as soon as they could (even though they had NO PERMISSION) to do so. This company does not return or pick up calls. However what they do very well was take maximum advantage of people's dire situations as an opportunity to satisfy their greed. It is ridiculous and an absolute disgrace that this company is given a contract with the OPP. How can the police be associated with such a mob-like company?When we arrived to their yard to retrieve the vehicle, the owner had a terrible attitude and made it seem like it inconvenienced him to steal my vehicle and handed me a $661 fat bill. I work with people for a living and I have not come across such a cold looking person in a very long time. No compassion, no customer service, no humanity. If you have a choice to pick, never select this business for your needs. You'll thank me later.

Alan was on scene asap after being called and did the job quickly. I left a message on their answering machine and Amber returned my call within the hour on a Saturday. She was even able to accommodate me to come right away and get some things I desperately needed from my car.

Crashing your car is an awful experience and dealing with my insurance afterwards was even worse. My insurance ignored me for weeks, and not knowing what was going on made me nervous. Luckily the woman who works here was very kind and patient with me. She returned all my calls and updated me when my car was appraised and when it finally left the lot.

The man who manages the place was clearly inside listening to music for the first 20 something minutes I was waiting, calling the number and knocking on the door. He came out to ask if I was okay before offering to open the gate I needed to get into. I assume there are few other places that offer its services and so it gets a star for that. Aside I felt distinctly uncomfortable and didn't even see the gentleman as I left despite trying again to knock and call his attention to indicate I was due for departure.
