We came to the zoo at 4:45 to see the animals before they closed it would have gave us an hour and 15 minutes but the people would not let us in because they were too busy drinking in their trailer

DO NOT GO HERE! Would give 0 stars if I could! I’m not usually one to post bad reviews but my experience was TERRIBLE.Had my German Shepard here over Christmas 2022.My flight was cancelled due to the big winter storm. I called on Thurs, Dec 22nd to say that I could pick her up because I was home alone for Christmas now as my flight was cancelled. Owners told me no, I couldn’t come get her.During a middle of the night online search, I discovered an investigation had opened up in 2013 (Zoocheck): their zoo animals were found to be malnourished/ underweight, inconsistent signage (safety issue), inbreeding, as well as poorly maintained landscaping and enclosures.I called the following day, pleading to come pick her up at the time of the call or later in the afternoon during feeding so as to make it easier for owner while they were already onsite. I had told her I would still pay her full amount so she wasn’t losing any money, just wanted my dog home for Christmas. Again, owners stated no. Said I couldn’t even get in if I drove up because they hadn’t plowed the driveway and gate + door would be locked.I debated calling police but non-emergency line was closed for the holidays. (We were able to pick her up Boxing Day)We will NEVER come back here. They were AWFUL to deal with.

Sad situation all around. Feel sorry for the animals

My review is for the dog kennel -Took my dog there for a weekend very last minute - my dog seemed comfortable and happy when I picked him up. He could run outside through a dog run - very friendly owner and very fair price - accommodating as she took my dog last minute.

I guess we should have expected as much from a zoo outside of Sault Ste Marie but as there wasn't must else to do my girlfriend and I decided to check it out. We went off a brochure in the lobby rather than reading the reviews. As most of the other reviewers have noted, the place is awful. As animal-lovers, we were appalled. There are indeed two large lions at the entrance and I inquired from the owner about them. She told me they were born in captivity. But they had made no attempt to engage their natural instincts mentally or physically. They were laying about in a large pen. We continued on to see if the cage was larger but instead found it packed in with pens for several other animals. Including a coyote that was just laying about like my dogs at home. All were in small, uninteresting pens. They seemed to basically be kept as pets. We had to leave as my girlfriend was close to tears. Indeed we both felt traumatized by the experience and resolved to share this information with as many people as we can. Do not support this zoo.

So their website says they are open until October 31, but they were closed when we stopped there on the 18th. The woman chuckled, “The zoo is closed for the season!” when my husband said we were there for the zoo.My nine-year-old future vet burst into tears as we left. This was the one thing she wanted to do on school vacation. I guess saying your website is “under construction” is code for don’t trust our information.Based on many bad reviews and the defensive tone of the owner’s information, I was afraid the conditions would be upsetting to my child. She was willing to judge for herself, knowing it might upset her. Instead her heart was broken for different reasons.If your website is not accurate and you can’t understand a simple calendar, I question if you really know and understand far more complex things like diet and health of various animals.We will not be planning another visit to this place.

Government sanctioned animal abuse on display! If this place does not shock your conscience, then you probably don’t have one.

This was one of our favorite things to do in Sault Ste Marie ON. The founders are a darling retired couple and they are caring for some amazing critters. Well worth your time and money. Amazing value here with lots of photo ops. It is stroller friendly with a picnic and play area.
