Was finishing up a Tim's next door when my friend asked me to go over and check out the shop. I said ok, as I had never been. I checked to make sure we weren't walking in right at closing time and it showed online it was open until 5pm. After I saw the time online and the door was wide open it didn't even dawn on me about the holiday. And as someone who has worked in retail for over 15 years, I understand when people walk in 10 minutes before you close, just to 'browse'. We thought we had enough time as their hours online said a 5pm close and we were there at 3:55pm. The door to the shop was still wide open. We stepped into the store maybe two feet and a woman behind the counter who looked to be counting her till, didn't say hello, just asked if we knew what we wanted. I said no we were there to take a look around. I mentioned it showed online that the store closed at 5pm. She said no, she was closing in 5 minutes because of Thanksgiving. I apologized and turned around and we walked out. I'm not overly sensitive and don't take offense to much, but both my friend and I actually thought she was rude. You don't know if we were from out of town, or who we were. Perhaps next time, you're about to close in 5 minutes, you would close the door to the shop so people don't think it's still open, not to mention, you're counting your till for end of day. And perhaps you could be a little more cordial and friendly and say 'Hi Ladies, how are you? Is there something I can help you with? I'm sorry but because it's Thanksgiving I'm closing in about 5 minutes. Sorry for the inconvenience but I hope you'll be back again soon! Maybe even wish those potential customers a Happy Thanksgiving. I have never been to your store
