La Tiendita

Nice place. We found lots of things we were longing for from Colombia, and tried delicious tamales salvadoreños and pupusas from the take-out restaurant next door. The service was very friendly. Unfortunately, many of the things we bought had expired months ago, and we didn't noticed until we got home.

After living in Latin America, I was longing for snacks that I just couldn’t find here. La Tiendita is on my way to work, so I just had to stop in. They had everything. They had the most variety than other Latino stories in Ottawa. The prices are very fair and the workers are very friendly. I try to shop here as much as possible because I like to know that I am supporting a small, Latino-owned local business!

Definitely My New Favourite Latin America Store In OttawaI used to purchase Mexican and other South-American products from other places but now that I discovered this place few years ago I have made it my main store whenever I need something. It's convenient to my schedule and it's not too far. What I was impressed about was the personal service when I asked for a particular hard-to-find product. They say it'll be at the store at a certain date and sure enough they'll hold it for me. They usually have what I'm looking for (but lately it hasn't). Still, I'll be coming here as my regular Latin-American store.PS: Reason I didn't give a 5-star is because in more than one occassion I purchased a product for which was expired. Other people had posted that in their reviews. The owner should be reading these reviews and pay more attention to it.

Prices can be expensive, but there's very limited options for Latin groceries. Friendly staff, who may be unilongual Spanish speaking.

I went here back in December for a pot luck Latin food we were having at work. First the good, there's a good a selection of stuff. The bad, the prices are high. Like very high. I've shopped with my gf at other latin stores before and the prices in this place were above everyone else's. We found some of the stuff we were looking for. They didn't give me a receipt. Went back to ask for one. I was suppose to split my purchase with colleagues at work but the receipt items just say Grocery" or "Drink". Very generic stuff. It was impossible to split the bill.Either way

I can not believe, I am the first review for this amazing latin store. Best place to buy crazy mexican chips and fresh tortillas! All kinds of great stuff. It is also attached to an amazing restaurant.

I recommend 100% this market for getting latin food. They have good variety of them.

Update: So sad to hear both owners passed away from covid. The last thing I told this owner in September 2022 was to wear her mask because they had a lot of foot traffic. Then after trying to find out why they weren't open I found out both owners passed away in October from covid.These owners are from El Salvador and they carry a lot of pop at this store and big bags of dry goods. So if that's your thing then this is the place for you. Word of warning...they are somewhat limited with goods on the shelves, but things are well organized. Their freezers have stock but some things were higher priced. Markup is 40-50% more than the other stores for some frozen items. I get that it's a free enterprise system for retailers but don't expect loyal returning customers if your market value is higher than others. Exhaust all other latin stores in Ottawa. My rating for this store is 3.7

Stopped here last week and I should’ve paid more attention to the expiration dates. The chips I bought expired in August and the abuelita chocolate expires at the end of this month. The horchata mix I bough is so gross, I’ll just stick to making it at home. Grocery stores are now starting to carry larger international items and have while aisles dedicated to Latin/Spanish items so I’d check the regular stores before resorting to this place since prices are way higher.

Nice little store with a great variety of Latin groceries. Be careful as they only take cash and CANADIAN DEBIT CARDS when you purchase more than 10 dollars.
