Very easy to deal with. Employees care a tremendous amount about the animals that are under their care. Definitely deal with them again. Got this absolutely sweet heart from them.

A friend of mine had to surrender a cat that she was taking care of, living in a small town she had no one else willing to take it. I expressed my willingness to adopt the cat but living in a college residence i was unable to until the end of the semester. The first alternative my friends family was thinking of was euthanizing him, after which I made the suggestion to drop him off at the humane society we thought it would be fine, if he hadn't been adopted by the time I came out of school I could pick him up. Unfortunately we recently found out that the Timmins Humane Society" actually translates to 'KILL SHELTER' as they put down the cat only a few days after dropping him off

This organization has been an enormous disappointment to our Autistic child by approving a dog for us and in the same day, breaking our child's heart by revoking their approval. We were careful not to show our child the dog's pic until approval came and now we must bear the brunt of her sorrow. The testing on the animals is not completed until last minute and then people get hurt. In the future, our family will go with a proper breeder and then we can vet the breeder over shelters putting us through rigorous questions when perhaps THEY should be the ones to fill out an application as to whether they should be sheltering animals in need of a good home. VERY disappointed, will never recommend.

Recently I adopted 2 brother cats ( Louie & Nickel ) from the Humane Society and I can truthfully say that the ladies working there were fantastic in helping me through the transition. I could see 1st hand that the ladies had a lot of heart in handling the animals. They want to make sure that the animals go to a good home with a responsible new owner so there is a process (application, meet the staff, animals etc.) in place to achieve this concern. Louie and Nickel are a great addition to my life as they are the most affectionate and entertaining cats that I have ever had. Thank you Brittany and M/s Walsh keep up the great work and take the negative reviews with a grain of salt as they wouldn't have made a good/responsible owner and I’m glad that you filtered them out as they would not have worked out.ps: My daughter and her family from Timmins are also very happy with the 3 cats that they have adopted. They also spoke very highly with the service they received.

So last week I found a puppy on the street and I brought her into my house for the night. The following morning my dad and I went to the humane society to talk about our options regarding the puppy (not to give her up while we were there). While we were talking to the ladies at the Timmins Humane Society, one of the ladies asked to pet the puppy and not thinking anything of it, I put her on the counter to let them pet her. Out of no where one of the employees/volunteer picked up the puppy and told us we were no longer allowed to take her back. This frustrated me so much and upset me so much I started crying. They didn’t care at all and told us she would be put up for adoption in 3 days and we were able to apply for her so we did. They told us to put a deposit on Kole’s neutering to ensure we would get him fixed if we wanted to qualify for adoption. To be clear here, they were incredibly rude about all of this and never once mentioned how much I had to put down as a deposit so I went to my vet to put down $100 deposit. The adoption fee is $300 at the humane society and since I wasn’t getting paid until the following week, I sold my computer, my iPad and various other items to make up the $300. After a week of selling my stuff, I finally had the money for the adoption so we went today to adopt her and their story changed again. Apparently now I had to put down the whole $460 deposit for Kole’s neutering to qualify for adoption. At this point I’m upset again and tried to argue that I was only told to make a deposit and not that I needed the full amount. The manager was very unpleasant, unprofessional and cold hearted. She told me I was wrong and now has denied our adoption application. I’m baffled at how rude and ridiculous the staff is at the Timmins Humane Society. I have sold so many things to make the money to pay for this puppy and I’ve been so excited about adopting her but because they kept lying and changing their story and because I used some colourful language (not directed at them) out of frustration and hurt, I can no longer adopt this puppy that already meant so much to me. Thank you to the awful staff at the Timmins Humane Society for crushing my heart, lying and being completely unprofessional and useless. I used to respect you guys so much for the work you did but now I realize its all a scam for money. I hope that puppy finds a good home and gets away from you guys. I am beyond disgusted with the staff at the TIMMINS HUMANE SOCIETY.I wish I could give this place zero or negative stars.

we adopted our beautiful blue from the humane society in may of 2021. he is without a doubt the kindest, most affectionate dog i have ever met. as vouched for in the other reviews, the staff here really do value their animals. blue came to us eager to learn. active, well-trained and in perfect health. i cannot speak for everybody when i say this - but i would adopt from them again in a heartbeat - and would encourage others to adopt. i love my blue more than anything. very affordable and a good deed to be done. thank you!

I was hoping to adopt a dog from here but after not being able to get a hold of them repeatedly i decided to drive there and they told me I had to fill out an application before even viewing any of the animals, which makes no sense at all. You kinda want to see whats available and meet them first before you decide going through the process. I then find out they post false information about the animals on line compared to what they tell you when you get there. ex. the dog I was interested in is listed on line as being great with other animals but when I got there they told me that the same dog as dominant issues and is not great with sll other dogs, which isnt a problem if you know how to train dogs. That was not an issue for me what was the issue is that they lied on his description. The then also want to see all your previous dogs vet records which is way to invasive for me. To bad as alot of animals could be going to great homes but it is just way easier to go buy a puppy from a reputable breeder. I understand you want your animals to go to good homes but you have no right to ask for vet records of previous animals. Alot people just lie now to avoid all this b.s. They are also not available on weekends which makes it very hard to adopt an animal for some people. Unfortunately my first time trying to adopt wad a nightmare and seemed like i wad dealing with very unprofessional people. This organization should have absolutely nothing to do with animals. They are way more hurtful than good.

Awesome experience adopting our dog Dallas (previously Sheera) at the TADH. I have personally dealt with the Timmins and District Humane society for both a cat and dog adoption. Every experience has been a good one, they have been respectful and professional. There is one bad article circulating - it is one sided. One bad experience should not tarnish the name of this organization. They DO have rules and contracts that you must follow and they have authority when it comes to animal welfare. If you don’t want to follow their rules, I suggest you go somewhere else to adopt.
