Bark Busters Home Dog Training Chicago

We’ve been working with Brandon for about a month and a half on separation anxiety issues. After 2 years of struggling with this issue and not being able to leave our dog alone, we are starting to see major improvements and are able to leave him for 5-10 minutes at a time. It has been so helpful to have someone available to answer our questions and keep us accountable for continuing to train our dog.

I adopted sweet Adelaide in July from One Tail at a Time in Chicago and she was a very high energy, high anxiety pup. I felt hopeless and cried many times thinking what did I get myself into and constantly worried that I was going to let Adelaide down because of my inexperience. Let me describe Adelaide when I first got her, she was super leash reactive, we could not even make it to the corner of my street without her having a reactive episode. The trainer at One Tail at a Time told me that she was the most reactive dog that she has seen and that she will likely not ever be able to go on a normal walk. I was upset about that but I was not going to give up. I was recommended Bark Busters by my dad's friend and I made the absolute best decision. After our first VIRTUAL session (CoVID), Adelaide was already an entirely new dog, I kid you not. She began to listen to commands, she was able to socialize with my neighbor's dog, and was all around a better pup. After about 4 sessions and of course reinforcing the training daily, Adelaide was able to walk around the neighborhood (30 min + walks) without even a single reactive episode. Adelaide can now go to the dog park and is a much happier, less anxious dog. Marlene really taught me how to communicate with my dog. I was not understanding the way that Adelaide needed to be communicated to (it is very different than humans) and after I grasped that understanding it was all uphill from there! Think of it like couples therapy for dogs. I am still in disbelief that virtually, through Zoom sessions, we were able to do a complete 180 in Adelaide's behavior and improve hers and my quality of life. I strongly recommend Marlene for training, she literally is a doggy genius. Forget Ceasar the Dog Whisperer, is it MARLENE THE DOG WHISPERER! Brandon did a great job help us resolve issues we were having with our rescue dog who is territorial at home. Our dog is wary when guests come into our home (especially men) and has nipped a couple in the past; Brandon gave us good advice (especially the Bah!" method) to take back control of our house and assert dominance so that our dog wouldn't act out when guests are around."

Bark Busters has been helping us with our 7 year old dog Molly for a couple months now and from the first meeting Molly was catching onto the commands. After a few days of practice we saw a noticeable change in behavior due to the training especially with door knocking and other triggers when out on walks. We are excited to continue our training with Bark Busters!

Brandon Marks with Bark Busters is truly amazing! He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, kind, and helpful. He only uses positive reinforcement training. He is also a dog behaviorist which is amazing. It’s important to understand dogs and learn what works best for your dog.
