Robert Martin voice teacher, singing lessons

I started voice lessons as a retirement project, following decades-long doubts about my singing abilities. My hope was to learn to learn how to sing ‘properly’, getting the most of out of whatever talents I might have. Robert Martin was recommended to me as a local teacher with much experience who teaches a proven, classical way of singing. Starting with him turned out to be an excellent choice. He helped me to overcome initial struggles, improve my self-confidence over time, and – most importantly – guided me through the process of learning to extend my tenor voice range, and to produce a pleasing sound for a variety of songs that range from classical Italian and German to current popular styles. He often had to draw on his extensive teaching experience to help me overcome hurdles and pre-conceived ideas. In my experience, he leads a student as fast forward as one is able to progress but in a supportive and encouraging way.

Rob has been a wonderful teacher and mentor to my daughter helping to not only improve her skills as a vocalist, but boosted her confidence in her abilities. He is excellent at balancing challenging students to do their best, trying new things and going at their pace. Highly skilled and recommended vocal teacher for all ages.

I have been taking voice lessons with Rob for a while now and my singing has improved greatly. He is a very patient teacher who has encouraged me and given me the confidence I needed to start singing in public. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with Rob and look forward to continuing to take my singing to greater heights.
