A very small restaurant with only 3-4 tables and a bar. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. The food itself was incredibly delicious and almost every single dish had me going in for more.We started with the scallop carpacio which was incredibly soft and fresh. The quality of the scallop speaks for itself. The accompanying sauce was pretty good, it was light in flavour but added a nice mint kick to each bite. The karaage was incredibly juicy and delicious. It just might be the best karaage I've ever had. It was hot and fresh out of the oil but was not overly greasy. The fry on the skin was perfect and it really let the chicken shine. We ended up ordering another serving of the karaage. The maguro rice bowl was clean and simple. It was served with some small sheets of seaweed so we could make our own little hand rolls. The tuna was soft and fresh, it was the red meat so there was definitely some iron flavour, but definitely not overpowering and definitely not fishy at all. The rice was seasoned with some vinegar and soy sauce. When everything was combined with the seaweed, it transformed into the perfect bite of sushi hand roll. The sleeper dish is most definitely the brussel sprouts. It was unexpectedly flavourful and was a nice surprise for everyone. It was broiled and came out piping hot, it was hot, salty and a little smokey. The star of the meal was definitely the duck confit mazemen. It is incredibly rich and creamy once everything is mixed together. We shared 2 bowls between 5 people and it was definitely enough to fill us up since it was so rich. The duck was fall off the bone tender and the bine was perfect for sucking. The noodles came with a soft boiled egg which added to the creaminess of the entire dish. I would definitely recommend ordering this dish.

First time staying in Mont Royal here in Montréal and I could not rave more about my amazing experience at this restaurant. The fish was absolutely fresh and the Mapo tofu definitely topped off my experience. Service was also great, although the restaurant is on the smaller side so I recommend making a reservation in advance. :) compliments to the chef! Thank you, we will return!

This place is simply a full 5-stars. Food is fantastic, super tasty, and feels very, very home made. Ingredients also have this extra high quality feel and gustative experience overall gives the impression that the cook cuts no end with food quality. I cannot recommend it more.

Came for lunch and was very satisfied. The food is authentic but the place is small, so not the best for large groups. Off menu recommendation (but not always available) : bone marrow and sea urchin noodles. Oh my goodness... My mouth is watering just remembering it.

This story begins with a reservation gone awry. I had booked dinner for two on a cozy winters night only to be turned down at the door as we were two weeks early for our reservation and they were fully booked. I felt defeated and walked out hungry and full of shame for booking the wrong date. Tara told me to chill and reminded me how much more satisfying it would be two weeks from now when we would finally get to dine at the bar. Needless to say, and as per usual I must add, she was right.Let’s get this out of the way, the food is exceptional. Chef Hiroshi orchestrates a symphony in the kitchen by sourcing top quality ingredients and the freshest of fish and channeling it into a menu built on layers of technique, tradition, unconventional risks, and loads of passion. Dom greets you at the front of house with a warm and welcoming smile, inspiring knowledge and anecdotes about the ingredients used, cooking techniques, and hand picked imported sake and wine selections. Let me clarify something. This was a two person operation. They do everything during the two seatings of 20 covers per night and they do it well. This was one of the most enjoyable dinning experiences I’ve had in quite a long time. The nigiri wet our appetites, select fresh fish sliced and placed on beds of perfectly made rice offset by the pickled vegetables we ordered. Next was the the lobster mazemen which is a truly outstanding dish. We also had the A++ brussel sprouts, prawn spring rolls, beef and pork curry, and finished off with some melt in your mouth toro for dessert.I hadn’t been to the bistro in a couple of years and I’m glad to report that it’s better than ever. Thanks for the wonderful evening. I won’t be a stranger again as I’m already planning a return visit to try everything else on the menu.

This place really doesn’t look like much from the outside, the interior is also quite small. The food was however interesting and of very good quality. Most items are tapas size, so the price can add up quickly. Had salmon sashimi, firefly squid, Brussels sprouts, chicken broth ramen, Kaluga Queen caviar on rice, pudding and plum sorbet for dessert. Our favourite item was surprisingly the Brussels sprouts. They were so so good!
