When I heard of OIART I originally went simply because I would be done in a year, but by the end of it I wanted to stay for 3 more. I’ve never had staff more invested in my success than at OIART and on top of that I’ve never felt better equipped to enter into the working world. Thank you so much for the year, if you guys ever need help feel free to reach out whenever.

Literally the greatest experience I have ever had. So many opportunities and they teach you everything you need to know. Teachers are right there if you need help with anything, everyone is friendly, professional and honest. They really are preparing you with real life scenarios. No bs courses, labs and practical exams are meant to simulate interviews in the field.. Ive made so many great friends and I’ve still got a whole 4 and a half months to go. If you’re choosing between this school and another, this is the one to go for.

It has officially been a year since I graduated at OIART! Crazy to think of.The knowledge and experience I gained from this institution sent me on a path to a career I didn’t think was possible. In less then a year after graduating I started working for Peach Jam Records Inc. as a Mix Engineer, Co-Producer, and Sound Tech. This opportunity allowed me to work with some of the best talent Calgary has to offer.Parallel with my contact work for Peach Jam Records Inc. I started freelancing which allowed me to work with artist across the country and in the UK.Alongside my job as a Mix Engineer, I found myself working full time for Global Encore as an Audio Visual Technician. The experience and connections I gained over the last few years from school and my work has given me the tools to jumpstart a career in a industry that seems impossible to get into. The sky is the limit and I’m excited to see what the next year has in store for me. Thank you OIART for giving me the tools to make a dream come true.

Best career decision of my life! The curriculum is beyond succinct, and every hour at OIART is worth the money. Highly recommend if you're interested in a work life that is exciting, challenging and devoted to audio. The instructors are incredible and they bring a lot of excitement teaching their craft. The instructors and interns take the time everyday to help one on one and get to know each student on an individual basis.

OIART changed my life and allowed to me to do what I love everyday. Before going to OIART, I had gone to college for Network Engineering. I was working IT, and unhappy because I knew it wasn't what I wanted to do and wasn't something I was passionate about. I found OIART through a google search, applied, and within a week, I was accepted, secured housing through the school, and was ready to move across the country to attend. The year here absolutely was the best year of my life. I met my best friends in the world, found confidence in myself, and of course learned a whole lot about what I love, audio. The program itself is an amazing way to get hands on experience and gain knowledge of all aspects of the audio industry. The staff are all amazing and very supportive, and even after graduating are always bringing forward opportunity to their alumni.Only within a year of graduating I have worked apart of a small team to complete all the sound (SFX, Foley, ADR, etc) for a short action film, I work some weekends as a tech at the hottest club in Toronto, and work with multiple artists recording music at places such as Noble Street, and Dreamhouse Studios. All while working Mon-Fri as an assistant engineer at an audio post facility for films and TV in downtown Toronto. All of this I only could have achieved by going to OIART.If you feel in any way that you are passionate about audio I cannot recommend this school enough. If you spend your time right, put in the work, and make connections, the possibilities for a long-lasting career in this industry are endless.

I left my job as a software engineer to pursue something I was deeply passionate about. Needless to say, I was very anxious about making this move in my life but every minute at this school was worth it. Even during the COVID pandemic, this school has provided me with the tools I needed to kick start my career in audio. Coming to this school was an amazing life changing experience. Just make sure you show up, come with an open mind, and work hard. You won't regret it!

In September of 2020, I began my year at OIART as an 18 year old kid fresh out of high school with nothing but a passion for audio. Over my 11 months at OIART, I learned more than I could ever imagine about concepts and topics that I never even knew existed!Absolutely no time is wasted at this place. I learned more in my first 3 days at OIART than I learned in the 6 months of online school that I was doing prior. They truly find a way to pack years of education into a streamlined 11 month-program.I would never believed that in a mere 2 months after completing the program I am already working in the world of audio full time. The faculty at the school provide guidance on how to approach the industry wisely and navigate accordingly. It scares me to think how lost I would be right now if I didn't have the knowledge about audio and the industry that I gained at this amazing school.

My time at OIART was incredible. It's 11 months of hard work, but you're surrounded by students excited to learn, and teachers even more excited to teach. Material is taught in a way that's in-depth and thorough, but at a rate that is easy to keep up with and not too overwhelming. The curriculum is incredible, and all courses are planned perfectly so that you're learning transferable skills from one subject to another. All studios are kept in fantastic condition, and the equipment available to use is incredible. The teachers, staff and interns are always fantastic and eager to help you understand anything you may be struggling with. Labs are incredibly useful way to get hands on experience with industry standard gear.I would whole-heartedly recommend OIART to anyone looking to pursue a career in Audio engineering, whether its Live sound, Music production, or Sound design and post production. OIART gave me a diverse set of skills and the capability to pursue a career in a variety of fields.
