Dunes Beach Day Use Area - Sandbanks Provincial Park
Amazing natural sand dunes with the softest, most beautiful type of sand. The dunes are huge and go for kilometers. The views are spectacular. There are restrooms, playground, picnic tables. The parking is paid and reserved in advance. A must see place in Canada. Please, keep it clean!

Soft, fine sand unlike any other in Ontario (that I've seen). Clean rolling dunes/hills of sandParking can be steep though. Make sure to reserve ahead of time and come with a large party to split parking pass cost.

Really lovely here and a unique place for a beach day. The dunes are steep so you'll need to arrive early to find a decent spot. Also, the water line drops fairly absuptly about 40 feet out so there isn't much of a shallow play area. In general, really nice.

always a great place to hike or lay out on the beach. hike for miles even to wellington. if you are courageous swim the Chanel( only about 20 feet) and walk downtown wellington for a coffee; then hike back to Westlake.

This is a really lovely place within Sandbanks Provincial Park !! We did the Dunes Trail twice. The first time we did it with the Park Ranger and it was really interesting to learn about the history of the area and the different plants and ecosystems that contribute to the Dunes at Sandbanks. There are some huge Dunes you can check out ! Highly recommend adding this to your bucket list. You could definitely have a lovely picnic here as well. It wasn't overly busy around 10am but seemed to get a bit busier by 12pm.

The beach is small and crowded. The water is dirty and full of leaves , dried tree boughs, moss. it is deep water as well. There is no long sandbank or large shape. It is too hot to go outside. If you would like to sit or sunbathing, you need to climb on the top of the sanddunes and so on.The picnic area where you can grill and cook must be booked advance ( around $150)The washroom is dirty and not well maintained. Not recommend this place!

Great beach. Lots of sand and beautiful surroundings if you don't mind hiking through sand on a hot day. There were no showers, the concessions stand were closed. The washroom seemed somewhat tidy. I expected more because of everything I heard about this place.

The Dunes Beach area is our favourite for Sandbanks, there's lots of room to walk to, it's a lot more secluded. It's very clean, there's washrooms, boardwalks, tall dunes, swimming area, and more. The parking lot is relatively close, but sometimes fills up quick.
