Ok, a well stocked strings shop with excellent customer service, good selection and prices. We arrived drove in from a couple hours away on a Monday morning without checking if it was open first, and it was closed! BUT the store owner happened to be there and invited us in, spent 2 hours helping us through the process of buying a violin for our daughter. Thank you so much!

I'm a professional violinist from the United States. While traveling and visiting family in Calgary we had the pleasure of dealing with this fine violin shop. First of all, they were very accommodating to my schedule and timeline, which I appreciated. But the work they did on my violins was exemplary as well. And as I was waiting I observed the young man in the shop working with a very young child, trying to get her set up properly with a new instrument. That was a heartwarming experience, as he advised but also engaged the child in making the decision about which violin she preferred. I would recommend violinists at any level to consider doing business with this fine violin shop.

Vicky Hill was amazing in re-fitting my violin for me - I knew it was not in the right playing position, and she was wonderfully patient in helping me to get it right, and get all the right pieces/chin rest/shoulder rest configuration. Also, I love the practice tool they created to refine the bow stroke - a stroke of genius, Vicky! Thanks so much!

I stopped by V. A Hill Strings on Jan 29th last Saturday in the afternoon and was greeted by two young lady staff at the shop. Vickie the owner was also working in the office too on that date, said hi to her as well (knew Vickie through my initial on-line form inquiry prior visiting the shop). I was looking to buy a new set of adult violin outfit to pick up my childhood playing interest, Talia served me by showing 8 different sets of violins that fits within my budget and need. She played each one of the violins in front of me in letting me to choose what I like best. I am into singing thus I picked out the one that I felt it sounded and echoed the best along with the matching bow, carrying case, shoulder rest, etc. to make my set complete. Talia helped me throughout the entire purchasing process patiently with a smile, played me with her good testing music and made my time at the shop with great pleasure.I would highly recommend V. A Hill Fine Strings for all your violin needs in western Canada! :)

I had a great experience buying a violin here. Vickie took lots of time to explain how my playing technique, the bow, and the violin all worked together and helped me try lots of different combinations of instruments and bows. I never felt pressured. Instead, I really felt that all she really cared about was getting me the right instrument.

I rarely write reviews, but wanted to express how impressed I was with the customer service at this place! My wife and I are about to start violin lessons, and we went into the store knowing nothing. Velik spent a considerable amount of time teaching us about violins, giving us honest recommendations, and fit us to some rentals that were of great quality. I haven’t had this level of customer service anywhere else. Thanks to VA Hill Fine Strings! We can’t wait to improve and purchase some violins from them one day!
