Food is is not that special. Poutine missed its mark, light on the gravey and cheese curds. Fries thin cut, dry and not hot? Jalapeño poppers not hot but warm cold??They have very little quality Canadian Whisky. They make a big deal about their Whisky collection, yet show little interest, investment or visual display for the depth of our Canadian offerings.Canada has a lot to offer from Ryes, blends to the New Sige Malts coming out. It's sad that Canadians show no interest or pride in our rich history of distillation. Fortunately this is changing slowly. The staff was pleasant and did offer multi sample of beer to find the one that resonated.

I do recommend the place for drinks.they have an enormous list of scotch and drinks to choose from. Great atmosphere.I would strongly recommend the place for drinks and not for food. The calamari has more breading to it that the squid itself. The coleslaw with the fish and chips was really unappetizing and the fries where half cooked.

They have daily specials. Thursday after 9 pm 1/2 on drinks. Really cheap considering.Oak wood finish … typical Scottish pub design and flareLive music between 9 pm - 1 am as well. Many large screens broadcasting sports.Very loud ambiance but if you don’t mind shouting ….. great!Friendly and swift service.

I have frequented this establishment on many occasions but now I have been here twice and both times were horrible. I have to give it a bad review. I really wanted to give this place another chance. To start I would say the service was excellent both times however the food is inedible. The fries were awful, the relish was so old it was stale, and there were bones in the curry. As a pub you should be able to cook one thing at least, fries but these were so undercooked, from the freezer, and after two minutes were soggy. When we let our lovely server know she kindly, without promoting, asked to have some of our meal comped and she would ask the owner. Surprise, he said no. I get that times are hard but I'm never going back to this place if this is how the food is going to be and how the owner treats his customers. I will be taking my business to any other establishment.

Visited this place each day of our 3 day Ottawa visit, great people watching on the patio, great beer selection and deals. Only had the fried ravioli, but it was great. Staff was wonderful to us.

The beer was good. The chips were good. Although the server couldn't figure out if it was Saturday or Sunday at 115am, so there were some interesting conversations

I likely wouldn't choose this place again. The pub itself is divided into a couple of different sections where you can have a sit-down meal and watch non-sports, sit at the bar, or sit in an area close to live music with TVs that have sports on.I didn't like the burger and fries. With a beer it came to ~$24. I'm not sure if it was just the time of day we went, but the burger was very dry and the fries are carbon copy of McDonald's, and unfortunately I'm not a fan of shoestring. We also had interesting service that I really didn't understand. It seems like at a certain point in the night, all daily specials cease to apply, even though the menus we received had paper inserts with specials. These weren't happy hour specials, they were daily and I just was a bit confused why they wouldn't either make it a happy hour, take the special paper insert out of the menu, or honour the specials on the menu. Everyday is special at Deacon's"

Living in the area, I’ve been here several times and there hasn’t yet been a time when I’ve received good service - if served at all. There was a time when I waited 40 minutes after being sat before I left because our server never came by because she was too busy taking shots and chatting with the bartender. Yesterday, some friends and I waited 20 minutes for initial service, we got 1 beer and we never saw our server again for a refill. We sat for 30 minutes until we finally got her attention to ask for our separate bills. We waited a total of 40 minutes to receive 1 bill. During that 40 minutes, we watched another table of her’s finish they meal, request their bill and have her bill them out before ever giving us another glance. When we asked again if she could split the bill she said that her system was unable to print separate bills and began to complain to us loudly enough to gain attention from other surrounding tables. I do have sympathy for this server however, considering the only other visible server was so wasted she would frequently stop dead in the middle of the floor staring off into the distance - barely able to collect herself enough to stand. I’ve had enough and won’t be returning. From what I’ve seen and heard around town - it’s shocking that you’re still in Business.
