Sustain: The Deck Company

So VERY pleased!Jon and his company were referred to us in the Spring of 2020 by an employee at one of Edmonton's decking supply stores and we are most grateful for the recommendation. We were replacing both our front porch and back deck, enlarging both, and Jon truly helped us with choosing the colour scheme and materials, giving us options to consider in the design process. We really love the non slip PVC deck boards in two tones, maintenance free front railing, and very cool looking Hideway privacy screens in back. It was a challenge to place the great number of LED Inlite lights we wanted shining on the wide wraparound stairs, but they look great and come on and off automatically with the solar sensor. We feel the solid workmanship by Rob and overseen by Jon & Gareth was top notch. We did have some issues arise, but they communicated and worked with us to everyone's mutual satisfaction. We believe you'd do well to consider Sustain for your next project!

I contracted Sustain to address a side deck and replacement of wind breaks that were previously just pressure treated wood. I wasn't set on what materials to replace them with, except I wanted composite for the deck. Jon assisted with the design and material recommendation which I was very happy with as it tied into the existing structure perfectly. Anthony and his crew executed the job perfectly. Very happy with the results, quality and cost. Would recommend Sustain!

It was a pleasure dealing with Jon through both the sales and the deck building process. Jon is very professional and will provide you with a detailed quote and all the other necessary paperwork that you would expect from a professional company. Antony and Jon at Sustain Developments we’re an absolute pleasure to work with and built us a beautiful deck! With a newborn baby, our budget was limited and Sustain was nothing short of amazing in accommodating our budget and still providing us with a awesome finished product!! They were able to fit us in to their schedule and get us our deck before the winter, so we are set up and ready to rock for next summer! They dealt with the minor issues that come up with any construction project in a timely and professional manner.We are extremely happy with our new deck and would highly recommend Sustain Developments to anyone looking to have work done at their home. Our deck vinyl needed a total replacement. Our experience with Sustain was positive right from the start.Jon gave us a fair estimate with realistic assessment of the integrity of our deck. Gareth was always reliable, responsive, and consistently communicated to us on the progress of our deck and who would be coming to work on it.Ali and his team provided excellent quality in the installation of the vinyl and skirting. They went above and beyond and we loved how meticulous they were with installing the vinyl and all related finishings.Elvis, Andrew, and the team were always friendly, respectful, and personable, keeping us informed with regard to important aspects of the project, timelines, and what they were working on.Overall, Sustain’s team was incredibly flexible and patient with us especially when we needed to adjust project dates at certain stages of the build due to dealing with another issue related to our home. They addressed minor requests without hesitation and answered the plethora of questions we had throughout the process. We would highly recommend them if you want quality workmanship and personable and professional service.

We were very impressed with the Sustain team, Jon and Antony. When we began our deck project, they willingly came out to our acreage several times to help with the selection of the deck color, pattern and railings. They were always available to answer any questions and provided us with several comprehensive quotes before a final decision was made. We felt comfortable working with them every step of the way. When finished, they made sure we were fully satisfied with the work. We would not hesitate to use Sustain Developments for another project.

I am very happy with my new deck and Sustain. They gave me a schedule on how things would proceed and kept to it. Their communication was second to none. I would highly recommend Sustain.

[9/12/2022] 4 Stars. The deck was fixed like new again! They had been through 'a crazy few weeks'.[9/5/2022] 1 Star. Sorry Sustain, I have to re-review your work to ONE star! I am so disappointed for what happened to me.The deck was built completely on Dec. 6, 2021. One of the joints was found broken 7 months later (July 3). Emailed and texted to both the sales and the project manager. Of course, the sales didn't reply at all. The project manager replied that he would send a man over to replace the joint. Another month later (Aug. 11), he said his man would come in next a few days. That's the last conversation between us....recently (Aug. 30), I texted the PM again to ask where his man went? Could be lost somewhere, should I call the police to report a missing man?...LOL, unfortunately, the PM was missing also. Hi, please let me know if you are on vacation and have no time to take care my case. Just let me know, okay? Otherwise, I am always waiting for your man giving me a surprise someday. I could fix it by myself before it broke completely! Please tell me what happened to you, I may consider to re-re-review Sustain Deck.[12/6/2021] 5 Stars

Sustain built our new deck in the spring of 2020 and we loved it so much that we got them to come back and build a second deck in the fall of 2020. Jon went over and above to track down some boards of a discontinued colour that we had wanted to use. This summer we loved spending time on our beautiful new deck. Jon and his team were great. Very professional and were always happy to answer questions. Elvis and Ervin did a great job. They were friendly and were on the job when they said they would be. We would not hesitate in recommending Sustain for their quality and service.

Coming from the perspective of someone who has never had a deck built. Jon was great at walking me through the steps and asking any questions I had. Their project manager Gareth was helpful.Update: Unfortunately we had concerns about the deck because the left side looked like it was sinking about a year after. We got one email back but it's clear they don't care because they aren't responding to our emails. It's been over a month since we raised concerns and no response since our first e-mail. They aren't as responsive as when they were asking for payment during the project and asking for a 5 star review on Google maps. It is against Google maps policy to ask your clients to write reviews which is what they were insistent on me to do during the end of this project. I am happy to leave a good review for good service just as I will for the service we received after the fact.Update: Our main issue was resolved after a few months
