Equitable Bank

The worst service EVER!! We had our first mortgage and our home equity line of credit with Equitable Bank and it was nothing but terrible service. We could never use our HELOC because there were constantly “issues”. They took $189,000 out of our HELOC on a $3000 cheque and all they did was apologize and said it was a mistake on their end and reversed the cheque. It shot our credit scores because it was 3X the limit. Do not recommend at all.

Customer service is nonexistent. On goods for 33 minutes so far while writing this review and have left them messages without getting called back and my mortgage renews soon. Would not recommend this bank.

Best interest rate for savings! No fee card that earns interests and rewards! Send money worldwide with a few clicks! Best digital bank in Canada! Keep up the great work, EQ Bank, Canadians need you!

Stay away if you can.You will be very surprised how many extra fees the bank can come up with, to almost double your agreed mortgage rate.

From all the reviews about others mortgage troubles and the poor service it sounds like it was the customers fault they had issues to begin with for most cases. I haven't had an issue with EQ Bank. I use them for savings and investment purposes.

The absolute worst experience I have ever encountered! I told them we are going to be short on paying our mortgage this month and apologize and asked what we can do about it. They refused to help and said if I missed 2 payments in a row I will be required to pay off our $1.1m mortgage within 15 days! I again apologized and said I can pay a week after it’s supposed to come out of our account. They said they are going to charge me $200 per transaction NSF fee even though I called them and emailed them 6 times before the payments were to be withdrawn from our account! What a joke! 0 customer service and no one called me back! Run away from this company at all costs! No empathy! Raised our rates form 2.84% to 8.7% open until we sell our home. $2400 bi-weekly to $5200 bi-weekly!!! What a joke!

ZERO POINTS TO EQUITABLE BANK ON ALL FRONTS!This bank should be investigated by the authorities in Canada, very very shady practices!!Please please DO NOT DEAL with this bank and burn yourself....No sense of customer service. No branch to go and meet a real human being to raise any concern. No skip a payment option provided on your mortgage in case of financial difficulty, which all federally regulated banks in Canada supposed to provide. So many hidden fees and charges.Each time you try to call them for simple requests the call centre agent runs around like headless chicken and then sends you on a wild goose chase!I cannot wait to be done with my mortgage term and get rid of this bank from my life!!!

My experience with EQ has been wonderful. They are really dedicated to their customer service. Plus their savings account has a great interest rate and now they have a card!

WORST BANK EVER IN CANADA. PERIOD! EQUITABLE BANK MUST BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED BY THE CANADIAN BANKING AUTHORITIES FOR RIPPING OFF THEIR CUSTOMERS....PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM EQ BANK AKA EQUITABLE BANK FOR ANYTHING EVER AND SAVE YOURSELF FROM TROUBLE AND HEARTACHE!!!
