Only place I have found in Toronto that has cannele other than Alo! Amazing highly recommend this pastry. Not too sweet, great caramelized sugar flavour in the crust and nice soft spongy centre. Other pastries like the croissant are great as well!

We were tasting croissants this morning and this will stop number four. This was by far the best one I had rated at a 4.5 / 5. It flakes then crumbles as you bite into it. There is still a soft, buttery consistency inside. I also enjoyed the espresso.

A beautiful cafe at the corner of Dovercourt & Queen - the space is so beautiful, perfect to work at, meet up for a date or just grab a quick treat and coffee for the day.So many beautiful baked goods and I’m excited to come back and grab some Caneles, Tiramisu and those cookies !

Nice neighborhood cafe. Menu changes based on season. So, you won’t get bored. Price is a bit on the high-end, but the taste alone makes it worth it. This place is not usually crowded. People tend to get take outs here. Carrot cake is my go to for sweets. Mushroom galette is my go to for savory. If they also do bakery stuff like bread, I don’t think that I can stop coming here every week. The drinks are average, nothing to complain about, but definitively could use an upgrade. It has a nice mom & pops feel, more of a neighborhood secret gem, rather than instagram destination.

Simply the BEST espresso - and consequently the best latte, cappuccino, etc. - in the city. Every baked good is beyond delicious. And the loveliest people to top it all off. Ten stars out of five. Always.

It’s a cute little bakery tucked away on the corner of Dovercourt and Queen. Plenty of seating to work or catch up with an old friend over coffee and pastries. From the moment you walk in, it’s like the smell of heaven.We actually ordered a surprise bag off the TooGoodToGo app. So we ended up getting four cute little carrot bundt cakes , a cheese & chive scone and a banana bread. Everything was super delicious!

Castle and Coal is a definite must try ! We purchased coffee , chocolate chip banana bread , carrot cake , and a breakfast pastry . The coffee was pretty straightforward. The cake and the bread were perfectly sweet . The carrot cake being the standout. I wish I would have asked for the banana bread to be warmed . My breakfast pastry was warmed and incredible. You can really tell it was homemade and the pesto inside was really tasty . 10/10 Overall!

One of a handful of times in my life I’ve felt compelled to leave a review. Every food item is amazing. Bodega bun is amazing. Best almond croissant in the city. Tiramisu is amazing. Ice cream is amazing. Cookies are amazing. And, honest to god, best coffee I have ever had in Toronto. Most places say ‘cappuccino’ but what they really mean is ‘sort-of a latte.’ It is perfect here. Every single time.

castle & coal is the best! Some of the best pastries you'll ever have. Junelle is an artist. My favourites are: almond croissant, kouign amann, sticky toffee pudding, and any seasonal dessert, but everything is mindblowingly good.

I used to go there for their chocolate chip cookie. Their cookie is very different from other bakeries and I loved the unique texture and taste of it.Yesterday I was tempted to try their strawberry kouign amann because it looked so delicious.I recommend everyone to try it immediately. It was SO good! Outside a bit crunchy and sweet, with the inside so soft. Truly delightful!
