I saw Heather for the first time today and will be going there bi-weekly now for help related to my pregnancy. She is so kind, supportive and knowledgeable! There was a list of things I wanted to discuss that I could check off, so I was in control of the discussion and could choose topics to talk about. Amazingly helpful visit.

This is not a health clinic and does not provide unbiased support for women. This is a group dedicated to persuading women by all means necessary not to have an abortion. This is their purpose. Do not support this group.

A friend told me they cornered her and said she could only be forgiven by God, even though they knew she wasn't religious. Their process was clearly bias towards Christianity.Edit: To address the comment below. My friend selected the non-religion path, and said it started off fine 1 on 1, then by the end she was in a room 3 v 1 (herself alone) and they were telling her the only path to forgiveness was through God. This was supposed to be the non-faith based option, and it was most certainly not. She was lied to at that time.I hope you have since developed helpful paths that don't lead to God. I have not been in recent years, so perhaps this is the case. Your non-religion options of the past were just an artifical appearence at the time.

Heather is the sweetest, kindest and super knowledgeable. We wouldn't be where we are today without the centre's help. We are so grateful for all the help and support we got. Absolutely amazing place.

This centre is considered “anti-choice” by the women’s health coalition of Canada. My experience with this organisation started with an attempt to understand the steps to seeking a medical termination, I was not offered any concrete information about how to access those services. I was asked to sign paperwork before meeting with staff which essentially amounted to a waiver declaring that I understood that the staff were not medical professionals and had no RCT licensing. I was told of the three options, and highly encouraged to not pursue termination, I was given a pregnancy test and asked to confirm my pregnancy (which seemed odd as the staff here are not nurses) I was also shown a highly inaccurate model of a fetus at 6 weeks gestation.I will grant that the staff were very friendly, polite, and keen to help me believe that I could handle motherhood, however, if you are seeking genuine options counselling and concrete steps for how to proceed with options for an unexpected pregnancy, then I would suggest calling 211 and asking for an emergency appointment with a licensed social worker who can help you move forward with the next steps that are right for your situation and your pregnancy.I am confident that the staff at this centre truly believe they are helping women in crisis, however, if you are in a vulnerable emotional position surrounding an unplanned pregnancy then I would advocate to avoid OpenDoor and seek professional medical and psychological services through any walk in clinic, 211 service, or through the NS Women’s Choice clinic.
