Kyouka Ramen
Ramen was a poverty food I used to eat. Some dried ramen, some cheap protein and that was a student dinner. Fast forward and this ramen shop is in my neighbourhood. And it is a far cry from my university days. I went here a few years ago with a ramen fiend. The man is an eating machine and knows his food. Said it was the best ramen he’d had since he was in Japan. In the interim, I’ve been to Japan and he’s right. Maybe it’s better than any ramen I ate in Japan or maybe it’s close.

Kyouka Ramen
Dependably fantastic ramen. Chewy noodles, rich broth and delicious toppings. Focused menu, but plenty of options and always an interesting special. Many vegetarian options that are not after thoughts. A small place, but I’ve never had a problem getting a seat. The closest I’ve had to the Ramen I ate in Japan in Toronto. Well worth the trip to the beaches.

Good service. Noodles are Al Dante, soup base and vegetables are fresh, marinated eggs are umai yet the meat (either pork or chicken) chashu was too lean, not authentic Japanese.

Kyouka Ramen
Tried their House signature ramen with doubled toppings. Really good portion, noodles were firm and most of the toppings added a nice texture to each bite. But the pork belly and broth were less seasoned than I'd like. The egg was also less runny than I'd expect. Service was quick and friendly. Overall 4/5.

I'm a regular Raman eater. I have often come to Kyouka Ramen for lunch. Today was my final visit. The service was great, but the raman was dreadful, tasteless and a gigantic fail. I gave two stars for the wait staff. The soup was a zero.

My favourite ramen restaurant by far! The staff are very kind and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the piripiri chicken donburi! The ramen never disappoints and I will be back again very soon!

Kyouka Miso Paitan Ramen - This rich ramen sports a complex chicken and pork broth, and topped with fragrant sesame oil and chili paste to boost its flavour. The noodles are cooked nicely so there's a subtle chew to them, and are the perfect vehicle to deliver the broth into your mouth.Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts!
