Groundhog Excavating staff exceed their promise of Honest, Reliable, Quality Service!In the fall of 2021 every time it rained there was water coming into my crawl space in a couple of areas, one being through a crack in the foundation.My journey to have the issues repaired led me to a number of businesses (that came highly recommended) that left me feeling very disheartened due to:- some not returning phone calls or showing for appointments.- two companies unsuccessfully doing the work. They were unable to resolve the issues yet left behind very large service bills and a leaky crawl space.After 4 months of poor service experiences I found GROUNDHOG EXCAVATING. Right from my first communication with Mike I felt this company is different. Mike confidently and assuredly said “we will figure this out and get it resolved”.After a job assessment and VERY REASONABLE estimate for the job I decided to go ahead with Groundhog Excavating.Steven came out to do the work. He encountered a couple of significant issues (some of my deck had to be disassembled, unexpected concrete that needed to be removed and a very large boulder right up against crack in the foundation) in order to access the area where the foundation crack needed repair. Throughout the whole challenging job Steven assured me that he WILL get the repair done and the crawl space WILL be dry. The amount of excavating Steven had to do to get to the crack was significant, my back yard looked like a destruction zone! When the job was done, I was assured that everything was working properly again, the deck was reassembled and everything was cleaned up so well that no one would know work was done!Well here we are a few heavy rains after GROUNDHOG EXCAVATING did the job and my crawl space is dry!GROUNDHOG EXCAVATING is a company that operates with integrity, very high workmanship standards, and a commitment of getting the job done right for the customer!THANK YOU MIKE and STEVEN! We bought a house . The former owner told us that water sometime came into the crawl space after heavy rain. After doing some researches we called Mike. He gave us an estimate and explained the procedures. Mike and his crews are very nice and professional. Arrived on time, Care was taken and cleanup was very good. Great to deal with such nice people. Groundhog installed a drainage system in my rather large and wet yard.It was a big four day project which was completed on time, within budget by a very competent and polite team. The workers were fully focused on their job. When a problem occurred Mike was there without delay and instantly resolved the issue. He guided me to make the best decision with regard to the borderline of my property. I am very happy with the job Mike did and also lucky that I chose his firm. I can only say the best about this company.

We received a detailed quote within hours and when we decided to proceed with the project they began work the next day and completed the job on time in a very clean and professional manner. They were able to solve our foundation and membrane/drainage issues at half the cost of another estimate we received. We will not hesitate to call Mike at Groundhog again if we need any more drainage work at any of our other multi-family apartment buildings.

We have an area in the basement that is always damp even during the summer. Called Mike and he came by to see the situation. Really appreciate the extra investigative effort he did by using the hose and camera to try to find the cause of the problem. This was even before us hiring him. Turned out there was a tree root causing the blockage. Mike explained the work that needed to be done. The crew was very professional and efficient; they worked diligently in resolving the problem.We are very grateful for Mike's out-of-the-box thinking, his willingness to take the time to find the cause of the problem and his integrity. He was the only person who was able to diagnose the problem correctly. He also did the right thing for his customers by sending his crew to restore the pathway which had sunk due to the ground settling after a few months. Highly recommend you give Mike a call if you have perimeter drainage problems. You don't have to worry as he will take care of it from start to finish.

From the first time I spoke with Mike, I felt very comfortable that my drainage issue would be resolved. We started the conversation months before the actual job started and Mike helped me plan out all the details well in advance. Once we started the work, we then realized there were a lot of surprises and again Mike helped me navigate through all those changes and get all the work sorted out. As for the crew, they really understood the job well, and went the extra mile to get the job done and also did some additional scope that we added at the last minute. My drainage issue is now resolved and I'm very happy with how my backyard turned out and now I can rebuild everything the way that I want. We called Mike up for a second opinion/quote on a drainage issue we had on our property. We had called another well known larger Vancouver plumbing company to address a leak we had in our crawl space. They told us we had a problem with the perimeter drainage, for which they gave us a quote. But, we wanted a second opinion. So we called Mike from Groundhog, who said, that we had water main leak, not a drainage issue! He identified the issue within minutes and even quickly determined where the leak was coming from.We live in a duplex, so there were 3 possible places the leak could have come from. Mike said that he didn't do trenchless water main leaks, but recommended someone who did. As it turns out, Mike was right on the money. Not only did he assess our problem immediately, but also steered us in the right direction.There was nothing wrong with the drainage system as we had been led to believe by the other plumbing company. We got the water main leak fixed and it turned out the leak was in the area that Mike said it would be in!Not only did Mike did not charge us for his visit and time but he gave us a quick over view of our situation and explained everything that we needed to understand, so we were no longer confused. His advice was invaluable, as the other plumbing company had left us completely confused and in panic. Mike was also extremely professional and very knowledgeable. If I ever need a plumber again, I will definitely call Mike!

Mike took the time to explain to us what needs to be done and he was very reassuring. He accommodated our urgency to repair our perimeter drainage system in his busy schedule.
