I have had the pleasure of adjudicating Ms. Bonnie's concerts and festivals for over 15 years. Her students are always well prepared and very musical. They have a real sense of pride in performing and thoroughly enjoy a sense of community among both students and parents. The support from teacher, parents and fellow students is one of the reasons many go on to achieve such high levels of playing and become teachers themselves. Ms. Bonnie introduces them to a wide variety of music styles to make lessons interesting and encourages performing as soloists and in various ensembles. This extra care and attention is why so many students remain loyal to her throughout their musical journeys.

In my opinion, Mainstreet Music School is one of the best schools in Edmonton. My 11yrs old girl and 14yrs old boy (RCM Level 8) has been practicing with Miss Bonnie for over 8 years now, we can see they have been excelling in their skills year by year while loving their experiences. Miss Bonnie is kind, friendly, patient and her dedication to her students is second to none (she has gone out of her way even outside of class hours to make sure they are ready). Her excellent skill and enthusiasm make my kids WANT to learn. Her lessons are fun and challenging, both of my kids always look forward to their classes.The yearly Christmas Concerts and Summer Concerts at West Edmonton Mall are beautiful and speak for themselves. Our whole family enjoy it every much every time we attend.We have some music schools in the Northside, but it is not even closed when it comes to what the Mainstreet School facility has to offer (roomy, comfortable, and beautifully decorated) and the quality of teaching. It is definitely worth the commute for us.

We have been so fortunate to have Bonnie as our girls’ piano teacher for the past 15 plus years. Her professionalism and approach to teaching piano makes it fun and engaging for her students as they learn both classical and contemporary pieces. Always expecting the best from her students, Bonnie prepares them for competitions and performances by building confidence and trust in their ability to shine. My three children (now ages 8, 10, and 15) started Yamaha piano group lessons at the age of five. The group setting, fun songs, and enthusiastic teaching really helped to keep them engaged. And since a parent is required to be present with the student at this young age, I actually ended up learning piano alongside them. So you can say the music investment returned two-fold!Then when my daughters joined Ms. Bonnie for private lessons, she took their musical education to the next level. Her teaching style is unassuming; yet, it helps build a great sense of accomplishment and confidence in the student, for I have seen that in my kids and the other students. She keeps the learning interesting, by incorporating contemporary pieces, such as Halloween songs, Disney tunes, movie soundtracks, and popular classical music into the regular curriculum. Through participation in the Christmas concerts, year end recitals, and digital piano festivals, my daughters were able to hone their technical and performance skills. They've learned a variety of music styles; they've played solos, duets, trios, and quartets. They've also played in ensembles of four hands one piano, and even six hands one piano. They have performed with different peer groups and even with their siblings.I have attended Ms. Bonnie's students' performances over the past 9 years. A lot have changed throughout the decade in order to adapt with the changing times, such as COVID, which impacted music lessons for my kids and their teachers. But one thing is constant through all this: Ms. Bonnie always finds a way to give her students the opportunity to showcase their talents. She embraced technology and put together her first online Christmas concert during COVID; it was very beautifully done, just like all her other work. It's always a treat to attend the concerts to enjoy all the wonderful performances, unbeknownst to the audience how hard Bonnie and her students have worked to get to that point!My oldest child is in her tenth year with Bonnie/Yamaha and working on her RCM Grade 9. I hope Mainstreet Music Academy stays around for a long time, because my two other girls still have more years of piano to cover, and I won't be able to find another teacher like Bonnie!

Miss Bonnie, the owner and lead teacher, is amazing! I began my musical journey as a child, taking organ lessons then piano lessons from her. Bonnie helped me love playing the organ/piano! I was able to complete my Grade 8 (RCM) exam under her teaching, as well as learn the skills needed to play the piano for my church. Miss Bonnie helped me build confidence in playing for an audience by having me play in her wonderful recitals. I learned how to play duets, trios, and quartets. Bonnie is an extremely gifted teacher and musician! She is kind, patient, and organized. When it was time for my child to learn the piano, there was only one teacher I wanted to go to. My son is thriving in his piano lessons - he is learning so much and developing his skills under Miss Bonnie's guidance. Bonnie has had an incredible influence in my life, as a teacher, mentor and friend, and I am forever grateful for all she has done for me.

Mainstreet Music School is an excellent facility. My children have been taking lessons with Bonnie Mounsef, the school’s owner and director, for more than half a decade; and it’s clear that the immense care and effort she puts into her teaching has been put into creating the atmosphere of Mainstreet Music as well. My daughter is currently preparing to take her RCM 9 piano exam, and Miss Bonnie has done an excellent job at making sure that she feels ready, and that she can excel in her musical career. All the teachers at Mainstreet Music are reliable, dedicated, and well versed in their respective crafts. The school itself is a very welcoming environment, and anyone and everyone’s love for music can shine through. If you’re looking to improve your musical abilities, Mainstreet Music School is the place to do it!

Ms. Bonnie truly loves music, her students, and teaching. She is super welcoming to all students and has taught me so much during my time as a student under her wing.

Ms. Bonnie and Mainstreet Music School is second to none; Ms. Bonnie is very dedicated to her students; she is friendly, patient and kind to her students and parents. She went out of her way to ensure her students learn and perform to their best. She offers lessons outside of the scheduled class time without charging extra for those valuable lessons. This is shown in the annual Christmas and Year End (Summer) concerts, the students perform beautiful; our family enjoy it every time we attend. My 15 years old is with Ms. Bonnie for 8 years and 11 years old is with her for the 6th year now. I have made referral to my friends of Ms. Bonnie and Mainstreet Music School and the parents are thankful they found Ms. Bonnie’s music school. There are many music schools surround our area in the North side of Edmonton; however, we don’t mind travel the longer distance to be with Mainstreet Music School. We’d follow Ms. Bonnie wherever she located as she’s the best music teacher in our opinion.

Ms. Bonnie is a great teacher for students for all ages. My son has been trained by Mrs. Bonnie for eight years now. It has a been a delightful experience to watch him grow into a pianists and the piano performer he is today.Ms.Bonnie teaches her students how to perform on stage. When my son initially entered her class, he lacked confidence. Ms. Bonnie gave my son, chances to join recitals and festivals.She has great musical arrangements of all her songs, especially Christmas songs and Festival songs.Ms. Bonnie organizes Yamaha Music Festivals every year. The Yamaha Festivals helped my son build friendly relationships with other kids his age. Ms. Bonnie gives the opportunities for her students to play duets and trios ensembles. This experience has allowed my son to make new friends. What makes Ms. Bonnie's Yamaha music festival special is that there is a shared connection between all her students and parents who participate every year. We are happy to be a part of Ms. Bonnie's Music Family.My son is currently studying to finish his grade 9 piano exam. Ms. Bonnie prepares her students for RCM exams that's why it's no surprise that her students get high scores in both practical and theories.Ms. Bonnie is kind to all her students. She's been very kind to our family and is welcoming of new students. She is very thoughtful, patient and generous. She takes care of her students and really gets to know each one of them. I am truly grateful that we found Ms. Bonnie as she brings out the best not just our son's musical talent but also the rest of her students.

I highly recommend Mainstreet Music School and in particular, the school owner and director, Bonnie Mounsef. Bonnie has taught music for 49 years and I was one of her first students. I was in grade 2 when I started with Bonnie. I began on the electric organ, moving to pipe organ and then switching over to piano. I competed in numerous music competitions and festivals, and at the age of 16 I won the Yamaha Electone Festival regional competition (one of the youngest senior students in Canada), advancing to the national Yamaha Electone Festival in Toronto. Bonnie helped instill a love of music and the desire to create music, as well as to teach. As a result, I continued studying piano in University with Bonnie as my practical piano instructor, graduating with distinction. I then entered into my second program in Education graduating once again with distinction. Since graduating I have taught organ and piano privately through my home studio over the past 30 years. I have had the joy of teaching countless children and adults the joy of music, and to help develop the discipline required to grow and develop in their skills. I owe much of that to Bonnie's dedication and guidance over the 13 years that Bonnie was my teacher. I have so many memories of the precious time that Bonnie taught me. I am thankful that she is still in my life and that I can recommend her for anyone looking for not just an excellent teacher, but a mentor as well.
