Freshwater Lake Look-off Trailhead
Tips: the visitor center is closed during off season and opens mid May. You can park for free at the visitor center and visit nearby trails.This trail is very beautiful and easy. There are resident bald eagles that circle around when weather is warmer.

One of the best and easiest top views in Cabot trail. Nearly a 5-10 mins walk takes you to a beautiful view of Ingonish Beach. One of the best fall views. There are chairs and benches to rest and enjoy the view.

Freshwater Lake Look-off Trailhead
This should be the shortest and easiest trek on the Cabot Trail. It is not even half a mile round trip but the few minutes walk offers you a generous view of the beautiful Ingonish Beach area. We visited there in mid August and the leaves had just started turning into yellow. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the fall!

Nice location to get a good view over the nearest village and the sea. In winter it’s a bit hard to get there and it’s mostly snow and ice.

Freshwater Lake Look-off Trailhead
Located before the entrance to Cape Breton National Park which is easy to be missed out by visitors. We accidentally parked opposite the trail and hiked up for the look-off. It’s a 15 minute cardio hike. Good exercise I will give it that. Once we hit the top, it’s all worthy. Great view from there. Not much space for a crowd though.
