The check in is done by touch screen in several languages. I remember Polish and Spanish in addition to English. You get called up to an initial window and then sorted. I waited two and a half hours getting there at 9:13am with no appointment. The person was helpful. Check if you can do what you need online before coming down to wait. It wasn't a bad experience. You have to be patient.

Ms. Bromley was very kind and patient. We have been here twice for problems about my daughter's social security, in which she explained in a concise manner. She also let us know what we should do to make her eligible. She also replaced my social security number today. Highly commend her dedication!

My brother is a homeless veteran dying on the street because Social Security will not release his retirement benefits. They will not accept his VA ID card and a letter from SSA confirming his monthly benefit. Instead, they demand documents that he does not have such as rent receipts, mortgage payments, utility bills, a driver's license, and Social Security card. My brother is 70 and suffers from emphysema, diabetes, obesity, and mental health issues. Without his Social Security funds, he cannot get into a nursing care facility, VA housing, or even a motel. Social Security does not care. I've taken him to several SSA offices and they all refused to help him.

Just awful all around. We had been trying to get an absolute list of what we need to get an SSN for our daughter and got different answers each time. I took an entire binder + folder full of papers so that we had all bases covered. Everything went through, but their system was down. I now have to go back to get the SSN in person as they don't give that information over the phone. If there was a more informative website, FAQ, someone answering phones, or online rep to affirm what people need, this place wouldn't have so many returning issues and their lines might even go down a bit. Try to cut back on peoples' time doing simple adjustments please.

Awful experience. I did the entire application online and just had to deliver the W-2 in person and get a few questions answered. This guy was a total *ick. So condescending. Essentially said, Not my job!" Can you believe it? I didn't mind waiting 2.5 hours and the place was pretty organized but the 7 minutes I spent with this guy ruined the whole thing. This guy needs a new job. Disgraceful treatment."

Went here 2 times saw the same person with my fiancee, now wife . Miss Bromley was very helpful both times, she explained everything clearly. I hope we get her again when we go back for my daughter's social security. Security guard is also a nice and helpful.

I arrived 20 minutes before 9am on a Thursday, and I was 15th of the first 15 tickets that are handed out. After obtaining a ticket, you’ll be first called to a window for intake—to let the office know what you’re requesting. I waited 1.5 hours before I completed my name change/replacement card request. Staff were professional and friendly.Bring all original documents pertaining to your request with your biographic data (birth certificates, proof of immigration status, old SSN card, DL/ID). It can’t hurt. You will need to fill out the application before you reach the window. If you can, arrive early (30min - 1hr prior to opening, at least) and stand in line. You’ll be waiting either way, as SSA matters are very lengthy, and the chairs are very uncomfortable.

Prepare to wait for at least 2 hours even if it's a simple card replacement. Cannot make an appointment bc for 'card replacement the appointment is not needed, it's fast service'. The appointment was fast though, it just the 2 hour wait. The security officer is very helpful and nice.

My wife and I went to the SS office for some help with Medicare details. Dianna R. was the person assiting us. She was great. Not only was she personable and friendly, she was extremely efficient. She expedited the enrollment process. Our experience with the Social Security Office in Mount Prospect was beyond expectations. Thank you very much.
