My husband and I hired Jon to put in our new lawn last year. Our house was a new construction so we hired him to till the entire lawn, removing the weeds that were there, add some topsoil, level, and seed. He also placed straw with plastic on some areas to cover the seed and loose straw on the remaining areas, as he did not plan for enough of the straw with plastic and ran out. It took some time for the grass to germinate and we were worried about some areas that seemed to not be level. Jon told us to be patient with it so we did even though we were noticing the areas that were not leveled well. We left it until Spring when Jon said that he would stop, take a look at the lawn, and fix any spots. The lawn was still not very level with highs and lows throughout the entire lawn. Jon came by in April to look at the lawn and the leveling issue. He told us that if we wait it’ll grow more and get better. He said in the meantime he would come with a plan to fix it and contact us in a couple days. He also told us he would still come back to do a lime application in May. After this, we did not hear from him again. Letting the grass grow more, did not fix anything. He never came to do the lime application or follow up on fixing the lawn. I called and left a voicemail to check in with him but received no response. We’ve had several landscaping companies tell us that the lawn was so poorly leveled that it should be completely redone to fix it. We are at the point where we will either end up doing this or end up bringing in numerous yards of top soil to fill and level ourselves. Since we would only be able to fill a 1/4 inch at a time with topsoil, this would take years to fix. Hiring Jon ended up being a waste of our time and money.
