They don't have many hours but they actually care about teaching you how your bike works and showing you how to fix it for next time.

Few years ago, strollering from a BBQ to another by this lovely summer evening, I was involved in an accident that left me profoundly scared. Not necessarily physically as scars do heal but the traumas remains.I felt on that specific piece of bike trail, on that steep slope on Berri between Sherbrooke and Maisonneuve. After the front brake of the Bixi suddenly locked in, I flew over the destrier and my whole body hit the strict asphalt like a piece of rubber. After witnessing my accident, many came and called an ambulance.I did remount on a bike quickly after that accident but was never the same anymore. As I don’t have a driver licence, transportation was always an issue. And bike some freedom.I entered Bill’s community bike workshop on a rainy Sunday afternoon. As usual, Montreal was failing me with providing a basic functioning pump for my wheels and I had to leave it attached by a neighborhood electric pôle the day before. Here’s I was entering Bill’s Community bike shop located inside St. Colomba House in Pointe Saint Charles, a workshop I entered so many times before. It had previously fix many little problems that are part of a bike life. But my mind wasn’t sure anymore. Part of me kind of felt it was time to part with my proud bike. Part of me even wanted it gone, stolen for utter motives. But that was until I met with JB, a passionate repairmen. After answering some of the questions I had about getting a better bike, thriving for better performance, the latest technology, the lightest of all materials and more generally a more stylish look. I felt strangely that my old and rusty bike still had a lot left to give. A epiphany then happened, I wanted to fell in love with my bike again. A lot like relationships, I felt that I wasn’t ready to give up on that and that flame could be revived like the one that gave me the sense to select if when I first lay my eyes on it so many years ago at SOS Vélo. A lot will have to be invest but it will be worth it I am sure.I don’t know who Bill is, or if he still alive but be assured that your legacy is transmitted with fierce passion. Thank you for these moments.

No matter where you are in the city, you have to come to Pointe Sainte Charles for the Bill experience. Bill not only fixed my brakes and undid my mistakes trying to adjust them, probably saving my life, but he also took the time to explain the whole process and show me how to do it myself. Seeing someone who is not only passionate about his work but very good at it is a real pleasure. Plus, he’s just a very cool and interesting dude!

Got a flat tire and stopped by unannounced. They not only replaced it on the spot, but showed me how to replace it so that I could do it myself next time. Friendly staff, excellent service and well priced.
