Jamaican Jerk Shak

Very friendly worker at the cash! Was welcoming as soon as I said hi. Talked about other Edmonton Jamaican food spots we enjoy. Amazing customer experience! Food was delicious even after driving home! Cant go wrong with a beef patty! The gentleman also recommended a pineapple soda that was delicious too! Prices are very fair and reasonable. If you’re looking for a quick grab to walk around the mall with or a meal to sit down after shopping, this place has both! 10/10 will be coming back!

Placed an order about 40 minutes before they closed, rushed to get there, we were starving and there was nothing other than Jamaican food that would satisfy the hunger. We were about 5 minutes late but Matthew was still waiting for us, greeted us with a smile and gave excellent customer service. We ordered the Large Ox Tail meal and it's as simple as this - if you're hungry, and craving a nice helping of quality food, stop reading this review and get yourself to Jamaican Jerk Shack.

Today I when to the food court and came across this place and thought I'd give it a try. Let me first off say that I am Jamaican born, and I grew up there. My review is specific to me and I give fair and honest reviews. First of all if you haven't had real authentic Jamaican foods this would likely taste good to you. For me, however, this was ridiculously bad. The first bite left me wishing I'd gone elsewhere, wasted my money. I've reviewed restaurants in edmonton some good some bad so my review here is not badmind or trying to discredit. The food presentation was poor, the pimento was lost in the rice (the food tasted like when my little cousin learning how to cook). I don't Normally purchase Jamaican foods because I can cook it myself. I do so merely to support, but it seems like some of these restaurants are only cooking because they can, with no intention of making people who are use to the authentic foods enjoy it. The only Jamaican/Caribbean restaurant I've actually enjoyed lately are Safrons ( a place that when I first had it was so bad I stayed away for years, they recently have a new cook that actually made the food taste good, this is not an endorsement for safrons), the second place is called Spice N Rice ( they rarely disappoint, not that they haven't but it's really rare). If you enjoy food here that's good for you but I didn't. Continue to buy if you like eating there. But if you're use to that authentic taste with coconut in your rice an peas and your jerk chicken having taste (Jerk was disappointing), you probably don't want to waste your money here, or use real ingredients in proper proportions ( to whoever cooks here). Friendly service, very clean and the food was amazing. We had a beef pie and the jerk chicken. The beef pie was addictive it was so good and the chicken was the most tender, juicy and amazing chicken I have ever had at any restaurant. Definitely recommend eating here.

Visit: January 2023Had the oxtail and jerk chicken meals. The food was alright, we found the chicken to be a bit dry. The oxtail was pretty good and the flavor was pretty decent, but I would have liked to have a bit more just based on the price (I know it's in WEM so the prices tend to be a little higher).But the service was outstanding. The staff was extremely kind and nice and that really added a lot. If I were to go back, it'd be for their friendliness!

Good, friendly service. I had the oxtail meal ($20 with rice, coleslaw), and the oxtail was good portion and delicious; tender and flavorful. I’m from out of town, but I would order it again.

Got the oxtail. Meat was tender and flavorful. Coleslaw also pretty good. Only knock is serving size of oxtail on the smaller side. Lady let me try a jerk chicken drumstick as they ran out of festival. Drumstick was on the drier side. Was good with the oxtail sauce.

Absolutely delicious first time trying Jamaican food and definitely will be back as well as the service was amazing. Highly recommend this place I got the jerk chicken with the rice and beans. Definitely worth the price so filling!

Both of us really enjoyed the jerk chicken!!! The patty was fantastic too, very flaky. We will definitely be back. Flavours and spice were great. The gent serving the food was very pleasant and cheerful.
