Mackenzie Joan Dog Training

Mackenzie is an absolutely amazing trainer. She has worked wonders with my pug, Charlie, and he ADORES her! Mackenzie is patient, thorough, kind, understanding, and most importantly, professionally educated!Mackenzie is a certified Force Free, Fear Free, R+ (positive reinforcement only) trainer who takes the time to teach you how to work with your dog without any harmful corrections or punishments.Mackenzie is a godsend to Charlie and I and I am so glad I found her. So few trainers are force free, and even less professionally certified, so Makenzie is one in a million.I cannot say enough good things about her!! Thank you Mackenzie!!

I was referred to Mackenzie by our trainer because our 7mos aussiedoodle has been having a terrible time at other groomers. Mackenzie is absolutely passionate about her work. We created a customized plan to get my puppy used to grooming. I was so impressed he let her cut his hair! I live in Burlington, but she will be our groomer from now on. 6 out of 5 stars.

We have been going to MacKenzie for dog grooming for our bischon since she opened her business. We had tried two others before, but were immediately impressed by her professionalism, gentleness and attentiveness to Robbie as much as by her skill at grooming him. She does such a beautiful job in shaping his cut, he looks gorgeous when he emerges--and he is not an easy case because he loves to roll around and easily gets matted.Because we trust MacKenzie, when we got our new Newfie puppy we asked her for puppy training. The 6-week training has been incredibly helpful, because we had never raised a puppy before. MacKenzie designed a six-week training program to teach her the basic commands (sit, stay, down, walking on lead) as well as help address behavioural issues typical of puppies (ie mouthing, crate training). What has really impressed me over the six weeks is MacKenzie's insight into our puppy's behaviour, and ability to adapt her training week to week. She noticed, for example, that our puppy was having separation anxiety and gave me valuable advice on how to address it. As a final point, I was nervous about training, but MacKenzie breaks it down into very manageable steps that have made it very manageable with short daily training routines that are fun and effective. It has been a terrific experience working with her.

Mackenzie was wonderful with my fairly temperamental cat and got all of his nails clipped with minimal fuss, she definitely has a great touch for keeping animals calm but cooperative. Highly recommend for any less than cooperative cats for nail trimming.

Mackenzie is amazingly patient, knowledgeable and supportive. She does not take a “one size fits all” approach to training, which I love. She helped me to formulate a training plan that suited myself and my puppy as individuals. Whether your pup is 10 weeks or 10 years, I would highly recommend her if you are looking for a trainer!

We had about 5-6 sessions with Mackenzie and she was awesome.If we require additional training in the future we will be reaching out to her. We would highly recommend her to all our friends/family.

Not a good trainer. She is super nice, always on time and provides great lesson summaries and is responsive to any questions asked. However her methods did not work for us at all.We had her for 3 lessons to train our then 6 month old retriever. At the end of the 3 lessons, our dog had no improvement in any of the areas we wanted to work on. We recently moved and are working with a trainer who also uses no aversive methods and our dog has improved so much.I think Mackenzie is a really nice person but perhaps not that experienced in training dogs, especially big dogs. Overall, we ended up wasting a lot of money and time.

My cat Zayna had a lot of knots (huge knots about 20 of them) I couldn't brush them out so I took my cat to Mackenzie. Zayna had never been to a groomer before and she is a senior cat so I was worried about her getting stressed. Well they did a fabulous job, got all the knots out and it hard shows on her. She did a fabulous job and their facility is relaxing and spotless. Go see them you won't be disappointed. Their prices are amazing

Mackenzie has done wonders with our pup Kay, who was very anxious, and responded with aggression when she was overstimulated. Additionally, Kay had severe separation anxiety, which made it very difficult to bring her to new places, even when I was still with her.With Mackenzie's training methods, Kay has become much less anxious and a completely different pup, as she has learned better ways to cope with her anxiety!! Mackenzie trains using certified Force Free, Fear Free (positive reinforcement only) methods, which allows Kay to focus on training without fear of doing something wrong or being punished. Kay LOVES Mackenzie and gets excited (doing zoomies) when she sees her and knows training is starting!Kay and I would highly recommend her if you need a trainer!

Mackenzie was referred to us by a friend and we are so glad that we have worked with her for the last 3 years, both with training and with grooming. We have learned so much about positive interactions with our dogs and Mackenzie is super patient and amazing in dealing with our dog who hates grooming. Go see her, you won't be disappointed!
