Donley's Pool Services

My wife and I were at the store last week. We bought a brominator from them years ago for our indoor pool. There's nothing wrong with the product, we were there for some advice and possibly a purchase of some items which could fix our problem - a broken pvc pipe from the pump to the brominator. We talked to a lady and a young man who went out of their way to try to help us. They even asked an older gentleman up from the basement to give us some valuable advice. I assume these folks are owners of the store. Their advice and help are much appreciated. I know where I will go to next time when I need some pool or spa products or services.

Excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to purchase a pool . I didn't purchase my pool from Donely's but wish I had. I called Donely's and explained the problem I had with my liner becoming detached not to mention the ripples I was getting at the other end of the pool. They came out and fixed it for me in a timely manner. Their customer relations is amazing. This was the second time I have dealt with Donely's to fix a problem with my pool. I am very impressed with this company. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

I've been a regular and satisfied customer of Donnelly for about 15 years. It is 20 to 30 minutes drive from my home to Donnelly. I arrived 10 minutes before the 4 pm closing time today to find the shop closed. That is frustrating since I sat in commuter traffic this afternoon for an hour and do not have an analysis of my pool sample to enable me to adjust it.

They keep it simple. They educate you when needed and are very professional. A nice change from the larger box store I was going to on Hunt Club where I always felt rushed and uncertain when I left. Donley's gives advice and service in a very welcoming way. The hours at Donley's makes it tough sometimes, but it is worth the little planning it takes.

I recently bought a hot tub from someone else. They weren't helpful with my issues. These fixed my chemical issues right away. Plus they open earlier than the other guys. They earned my business.

Addendum to prior review: I wanted to balance my prior 1-star review with some recent positive experiences at Donley's. After the very upsetting treatment I received from Cathy last year, I switched to another pool store for my chemicals and the testing. But when it came to equipment and service, I will say Donley's is one of the best and really bailed me out in a time where parts are hard to come by. I think John is excellent and responsive, and helped me out considerably. I will leave my prior review narrative because it was quite shocking, and hopefully something that will never happen again to another customer. But I have revised my score based on the more recent interactions.prior 2020 review: I had the worst experience with the owner, after having been a loyal customer for over 5 years. When I went for my routine water test, the owner came out and accused me of not having purchased anything" from their store for over 5 years. I explained that I come 2-3 times per season and have spent well over a $1000 in pool chemicals (and was in fact buying $130 worth that very day)

We have been loyal customers of Donley's Pool Services for more than 7 years. They are exceptional: professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. If you are looking for expert advice and exceptional service, look no further. We drive past four other pool supply stores to benefit from the service at Donley's because there is simply no comparison. I don't say this often, but I feel honored to be their customer. We would be lost without them.

We have been a customer for 7 years and they have always been super difficult to communicate with. This year we are finished with them. We were having issues with our filter when opening the pool this year after having them close it last fall. They didn’t even bother to call us back. After 3 weeks of contacting them we reached out to 3 other pool companies who immediately responded. One was even kind enough to talk us through what the issue might be before coming onsite and thankfully helped resolve it over the phone. .I guess loyal customers mean nothing to Donnelys.

Their policy of buying something after a pool water test even if you do not need any chemicals or accessories is ridiculous. This is the only pool store does this. Cheap way of thinking and even their price are double. I will not be back.

Had a terrible customer service experience with the owner today. She treated my husband and I like we were dirt, in front of other staff and other customers. Made me wonder how a company can survive, treating people the way I was treated today. I've been a customer for a few years. Never will I set foot in there again. My husband went in to buy chlorine pucks while I waited in the car with my son. He bought the wrong ones (with zinc algaecide, which we don't need for our pool). I noticed this right after we left the parking lot. (I was also floored by the price.) We drove up the road, did a U-turn and came back, in less than 5 minutes, to return the product. They didn't have what we needed (only 2 pails of regular left, but they were on hold for another customer). The owner was called up, and from the get-go she looked completely annoyed that we were asking to return the product we had only just purchased, pointing multiple times and in a lecturing and patronizing manner to her store policy of 'no returns on pool chemicals'. I'm sorry, but a store owner can make an exception to their own policy when it is clear that the product left the store mere minutes ago, was the wrong product purchased, was never opened, and they aren't able replace the product with the required product immediately. Surely customers deserve more respect than this, especially in today's competitive market. In the end, she gave us the refund, but her manner was so unprofessional and embarrassing for us that this review is well-deserved. Short-sighted behaviour, and the perfect example that not all business owners are good business people. (Oh, and we were told that the premium on pricing is due to the service they give their customers, such as pool water testing. I don't need my water tested, so why hit me with such a huge premium?) It's really unfortunate. Up until today I was happy to give this small, local company my business.
