Playa Cabana Taqueria Norte
Delicious food, fun atmosphere and wonderful staff. My friend and I tried several dishes—easy to share as they offer 2 or 3 or 4 tacos per order. Nachos were a fun appetizer to eat, and my friend devoured the Pollo tinga (chicken) tacos. Grilled Pescado (fish) tacos were super yummy, and the vegan chorizo ones were to die for. Though it was a lot of food, we couldn’t call it a night without trying the Tres Leches cake—absolutely heavenly. Cannot wait to come back and try everything else!

TLDR; the staff is rude and unprofessional (servers/management alike), they do not accommodate shellfish allergies, not suitable for larger groups.Man, I really wanted to like this place. We chose to celebrate a family member’s birthday at Taqueria Norte because of the love we have for the other locations.We emailed ahead to ensure a shellfish allergy could be accommodated and were assured via email that it could be. However, when we arrived, aside from the fact that our server was incredibly passive aggressive and quite frankly unprofessional during our interactions, they informed us that everything was cooked on the same kitchen equipment and cross contamination could not be avoided. Not sure why this wasn’t communicated when we emailed originally. Had it been, we would have chosen a different restaurant. A guest shouldn’t have to take that kind of a gamble with their health, especially when they email ahead to ensure it’s safe.They also mentioned in the email correspondence that one bill would be issued for groups larger than 8 and they would accept separate payments. But when it came time to pay, they told us we needed to make one payment. When we physically pulled up the email proving otherwise, the manager read it, and we were immediately met with hostility. When we asked for his name, he refused to provide it and only identified himself as the General Manager. What an excellent example he’s setting for his staff, if he is in fact the GM :(Our server who, when asked, identified herself as “Julia” despite the name on our bill saying Emily, so this was likely a lie. Yep, super professional. Emily/Julia was incredibly brash with our group pretty much from the beginning. Unfortunately, she was already guaranteed 18% gratuity because of the size of our group, or else - let me assure you - she wouldn’t have received a cent. A tip certainly was not earned.All-in-all, we made the most of our evening and tried to make the experience an enjoyable one for the sake of the birthday girl, but this location is nothing like their sister locations. Absolutely would not recommend. Save yourself the time and money.

Every time I visit any of the locations, I am surprised by how great their food is! Absolutely delicious and decent. The staff are always cool! The ambiance makes you feel authenticity and fun at the same time. Definitely recommend this or any of the locations!

We loved going to Playa Cabana last time we were in TO, unfortunately this visit we were quite disappointed. The food portions compared to last time is 50% smaller and the pricing is the same... the quality of Taco was not nearly the same as last time. They have much less ingredients and overall not as tasty. The amount of food you get for the price is not great. We ordered 2 tacos each and the salsa with chips and it was almost $50 with the tip. I think they have gone more toward just offering/focusing on the drinks and have lowered there food quantities/quality.

You’re guaranteed delicious food from this cozy Mexican restaurant in the heart of midtown. Don’t be fooled by the small-ish menu options: everything on it comes as a large portion.I highly recommend the street style burrito with chicken. Though everything you order will be good.

Excellent restaurant. We were served by Andy and two others, all of which were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional, we particularly enjoyed the ceviche. Thank you!

Food not good. Service very bad. I would suggest saving your money and eat somewhere else. There are much better tacos places in the city with better atmosphere, service and food. If I could give zero stars I would. Lastly, Emily our server was unkind and unprofessional. Our group left having paid a 18% gratuity (and regular HST on top of the bill) that was actually undeserved but what I can I say but we're polite Canadians.

visited maybe 3 times and I cant say enough how good this place is. their tequila is the one to die for. I can drink that all day haha.the food also delicious. we tried basically all their tacos, burritos and their appetizers. everything came out perfectly. the atmosphere and the decor of this Resturant is also super cute. as you would say instagram worthy :) 100% recommend this place
